I was actually really excited to see it! Would have loved to have met with the author there at Comic Con. There's a picture of him too on the ArenaNet facebook page if some of you want to see:

Matt Forbeck mentions on his site a potential date for the books release, but says it may not be set in stone yet.

huh, one would think people would be swarming this thread.... though there really isn't anything to speculate

I actually went in and searched the artists' pages, in case this image has already been posted.

Couldn't find it, though.

They're making books now? Is this continuing the story or talking about the searing? Not that I'm gonna buy 'em. :/

I believe I read somewhere that it is going to be trilogy and the first book will start to detail events that happen between GW1 and 2, don't quote me on that though as I have a bad memory and I can't find a link to back me up

It's a bridge between the story of Guild Wars 1 and Guild Wars 2. I think it will be an interesting read. The lore of Guild Wars always fascinated me.

I'd like to clarify something about the photo the Fall of Ascalon poster seen at Comic-Con. It was created by our graphic designer as a place-holder for the publisher's catalogue, so this may not be the final book cover.

Very lovely art, even for a placeholder.

Makes me look forward to it even more.

Any chance the release date moves up from the current placeholder date we know of (which is Febuary 2010).

I will buy this for sure. I typically am not a novel reader, but I'll make an exception this time.

Nice graphics, especially for a place holder image. I look forward to the actual product.

Much as I loved working on the book, it’s a huge relief to have it out the door. I’m sure, given the nature of such tie-in novels, that it will come back for revisions, but I’m thrilled to know that the bulk of the work is complete.

Then it’s back to the keyboard to wring Amortals out of my brain. It’s been lurking there far too long and needs to be let out.
Not very encouraging if you ask me

Are you absolutely sure it's the final placeholder?

To be honest I think he's just glad he finished the project. When you work for months on a project, it's always nice to deliver the endresult. I think it's normal he's looking forward to his next project. Nothing strange imo.

Cant wait to read it! The placeholder looks really nice, but I wonder if there will be different covers for the American and European market?

Maybe I've misinterpreted his thoughts. I'm just a bit skeptic in regards to writing novels... on demand. And the GW novel seemed to be written on demand while his next project is something that needs to "get out his head" and get a life of its own. I wish the situation was reversed
