Suggestion for Rank Discrimination

You pretty much are the perfect example for what everyone who PvP's has been saying from the beginning. It isn't the game that is at fault here, it is just simply your attitude. I'm not saying you have a bad attitude, I'm just saying it isn't an attitude for a competitive environment. Everyone who plays PvP went through what you did. The difference is we love competition so much, that we can deal with losing that much if it means we will get better and one day be rewarded for our efforts. Does it take a long time to get good? Yes it does, and we've all expressed that multiple times. If you feel like improving yourself is a waste of time, then don't play PvP.

The game itself doesn't need to change. If it changes to cater to the attitudes of you and like minded people, then it is no longer a competition. The good prosper, and the bad fail. That is the way of PvP and it shouldn't change because then it isn't PvP anymore. Do we want more players in PvP? Absolutely. But we can't get that by changing the game. We get that by changing the mentality of the players. If you are competitive and have that drive to be good, we want you in PvP. If you don't, we want nothing to do with you because you don't fit. You're a triangle trying to fit through a circle hole. You don't belong, and you need to go do something that you find fun.

No one likes to lose, but what makes you a good player is that you can accept a loss if you learn from it. If you refuse to learn from it, then go do something else. Competition isn't for everyone. It is only for those with the desire to be the best.

Nice words for a perfect world but that cant be applied to GW pvp soz . Maybe 60% of the things you say are true there but you are missing some important points. Also the point of view from someone that starts NOW on pvp has nothing to do with the point of view or the attitude of someone that started 3+ years ago so ( at that time ofc ) , so that "Everyone who plays PvP went through what you did" turns out to be closer to a false statement than to a true one.
There are ppl that say nowadays starting in PvP mode is a waste of time and they have right to have an opinion and is perfectly legit so please dont talk to those ppl like they were a childish /ragequit players that cant accept to lose or not being "a good player that can accept a loss and learn from it" . That is also discrimination

Trying to get into PvP has always been a waste of time for those who don't have that competitive edge. Sure the game has changed but getting started never has and never will. You always have started from the bottom and been forced to work your way up, and you always will have to. You start by finding a beginners guild and you play until you are better. How has that changed? The only thing different is the builds, and if you think about it, it is a lot easier now because the game has been extremely dumbed down and doesn't punish you as hard for little mistakes like it used to.

The only excuse that has remotely any ground, is that they think by the time they get good GW2 is going to come out so it will be all for none. Well GW2 probably won't be out until 2011 and it is 2009 last I checked, so excuses are excuses.

I never said it was childish to ragequit after losing. It is understandable people would be upset. All I implied is that they just don't have the drive and motivation required to get far within the PvP community. It isn't an adult/child thing. Some people like competition, others don't. Some people like challenging themselves and others like to roflstomp all over things. PvP is for some people, and it isn't for others. Unfortunately there are more people who don't fit the requirements needed to get into PvP then those who do. And that is fine, and A.Net realizes this and hopes that World PvP is going to solve the problem of letting casual players enjoy PvP too. But right now, if you want to get into GvG or HA, you need to have a competitive spirit and if you don't then you won't get anywhere.

Rank makes it easy to PUG. If there was no rank everyone would just play with friends and guildies. Rank allows you to get a group and make new friends when you don't know anyone.

Farming will always be boring and a waste of time for those who dont want money because it doesnt really "matter" on GW , so ? it has nothing to do with what i said. You didnt get what i said , is not a "game has changed" matter dude , its a matter of TIME.

You really dont know the answer ? lol. How much rank discrimination were there when there was NO RANK ? see my point now ?. When 90% of the PvP players had 0 or rank 1 things were A LOT diff and that experience has NOTHING to do with the new pvp player experience atm. Just pointing out that you cant say "we all been through the same" because is so far from being true.


You are discriminating again , there are some ppl that think getting into pvp is a waste of time that are NOT making "excuses" for not having time , or the skills , or the attitude you mention or whatever , dont talk like every one that does X is because Y , its a very BIG BIG mistake.

Man seriously , you gotta stop talking about pvp ppl like there were a 1337 minority or "chosen" ppl because thats the impression many ppl can get by reading your words. Like i told you before ,please dont talk of thoseo that dont do pvp like they are not part of "those" ones that "fit the requirements needed to get into PvP" . Doing pvp is an option , not a career wich requires being born with some sort of natural ability or somethin.
Rank discrimination didnt exist since the beggining and thats a fact , therefore now that its a "problem" maybe its time to bring something to counter it ... or maybe is just too late , or not worth but saying its a matter of attitude or whatever is just not true soz.

The time it takes to improve varies from person to person. It has very little to do on how long the game has been out and much more on the person's ability to learn tactics and improve on his/her mistakes, and the amount of time they can devote to the game per week.

The majority of people who PvP have not been PvPing since release (myself included). So there has been rank discrimination since I began and since the majority of the current community ha begun. Before I even bought the game there was already a number of people with rank 6 or higher. So 90% of the people in PvP having rank 0 to rank 1 was something that pretty much ended by the time of Factions release. Besides the point is you don't start through pugging. You start in a guild. If you are trying to start competitive PvP by only Pugging then you are doing it wrong. That has been stated multiple times in the hundreds of these threads that have been made. So basically, your point died 3 years ago.

what? I really have no idea what point you are trying to make here. Some people like competition and others do not. Those who like competition are usually involved in PvP. Those who don't are not.

I never said we were a "chosen" group. We have a different mentality then people who dislike PvP. Neither one is right and neither is wrong, it is individual preference. If you don't like being super competitive, don't play a super competitive game. If you hate grinding, don't grind. If you hate laid back casual play, don't play laid back and casual games. What is so hard to understand?

Of course rank discrimination didn't begin when the game first came out. But it began the second people began getting rank. Rank discrimination has existed for around three years now, and I fail to see why it is all of the sudden a major problem now and not three years ago. Sure the playerbase is dwindling making it harder to form lower rank pugs, but you can solve that by forming a guild with lower ranked players like has been suggested countless times before. That is what you do in a dying game. You have to make connections the best way possible, and that is how you have to do it nowadays.

And don't try telling me there aren't enough people to make a guild. A thread like this one pops up pretty much every 2 weeks and in it there are multiple people complaining no one will play with them. How about the 100 of you complaining no one will play with you form that guild and play together?

Are you misreading on purpose ?. If theres something that is DIRECTLY related to rank discrimination is the time the game has been out dude , if you doubt that , you cant be saved.

You tell me , you dont seem to get that ppl that does X =\= Y . Not all ppl that doesnt do pvp dislike pvp because the reasons you think, is it so hard to understand for you ?.

- I bet my left arm that there are many R9+ wouldnt be doing pvp now if they started with the current rank discrimination . GW PvP arent 8 skills and game mechanics , GW pvp are the ppl that do it and those arent the same than 1 ,2 , 3 or 4 years ago , everything changes.

I'm not misreading anything. I'm not talking about everyone who doesn't PvP. I'm talking about those who come on the forum and complain about not being able to get into PvP because so-called "Elitists" are holding them back. If you don't belong in that group then what I have said throughout this entire thread is not directed toward you at all.

You and anyone else who doesn't fit into that category need not pay attention to what I am saying. My message obviously wasn't aimed towards you and our argument has more than likely just been a big misunderstanding of one another. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and just assume I worded my points improperly and I'll just have to be more clear in the future I guess.
