Basically my friend had this computer which was really old and never really thought about replacing it...

He gave it too me so now I have two computers and once I installed Guild Wars it needed an automatic update so I shut down the computer while it was installing. Now when I run it the computer won't boot windows...It just comes up with a flashing underscore and a black screen...

He also said he was trying to dual boot Ubuntu but it failed and now says I have to fix his computer because I was the last one using it...

Can anyone help me?

Try booting Ubuntu on a Live CD and mounting the HDD of windows, in the C directory you will find the boot.ini. Look online for maybe a healthy looking boot.ini and compare? Not sure if thats even whats wrong with it but thought i'd give that a try. Hope it helps.

The boot.ini looks fine when I compare it to others and I might just call someone over to look at the computer if I can't find a solution online.
