Best way to aggro/pull mobs when H/H?
ferv0r
Basic question, but I wanted to see how other people did it. I'm a lazy bum, so I usually do everything as easily as possible. Unfortunately, I'm doing more hard mode now and the more difficult content, so the lazy way doesn't always work, heh.
How do you first initiate combat with mobs when soloing with heroes/henchmen?

well.... With 6 Discord necroes I just rush in...
If not, flag H/H back, pull out a long bow and pull

Flag them away(like close to the edge of your radar range) and approach mobs/patrol with a longbow. Release flag when you have agro, your H/H will run up to you and then begin to engage.

I prefer a flatbow to a longbow for pulling. You'll miss a bit more, but that doesn't really matter for pulling, and due to the higher arc you have more flexibility since you can fire over more obstacles (and I think hit uphill foes from a bit farther back too).
Otherwise, what the last couple posters said. And I avoid taking any melee H/H because they're too prone to drawing extra aggro. And supposedly you can bunch the mobs and lock aggro on you better if you force mobs to line up against a wall (and in particular with the wall on their left or right---I forget), but I've never tried that.

Well monsters are really really mean, and fighting a lot of them causes my character to curl up in a fetal position on the ground. To prevent this from happening, I take out my handy-dandy Storm-bow and pew pew a bad guy with an arrow. This usually makes it really angry and decides to come running towards me with a lust for blood and flesh.
Now my sweet little Ele gets really really scared, so she runs back away from the enemies, who are now emitting a battle cry of war. This battle cry signals to all of it's friends to "come and kill this Ele!" My character starts to run faster now, but my heroes decide to stand there and fight it.
Rinse and repeat for more of those nasty enemies

Mostly this.
There isn't that much even in HM that can wipe you. I generally run in as well because:
1. It's easier and faster
2. I can kite things like meteor shower better than HH even if I'm playing a squishy
3. Can pop off Pain Inverter on Ele bosses right away (might be the only thing that could wipe you)
But yeah, if I don't see something I like and I can't go around it, pulling into a minion wall or melee works wonders.

Like the others have said a Longbow is your friend. I find a Flatbow is good aswell for bypassing some terrain due to it's flight arc.
It's good to flag heroes and pull mobs into walls of minions, summons, and spirits for epic destruction.

PS yourself, longbow, run back into minyuns
Eragon Zarroc
use ur flags like crazy! spread ur heros out to avoid getting wiped by aoe. use corners.

If you are a caster, try to max your Vanguard title and use your Vanguard Assasin Support to momentary hold aggro. It is important to call target as you dispatch the VAS to trigger your H/H attacking immediately. The H/H are a lazy bunch they will not initiate attack until you or one of the H/H takes damage. You will be surprised that the VAS can hold aggro, albeit short, long enough for your Discord necros and your self (setup to prepare/maintain Hex and conditons for discord damage) to reduce the overall mob health for easy kill afterward.
Use a longbow to pull the mob to the edge of their territory if you have too. The direct VAS tanking approach, however, works with a single mob most times. Of course it depend on your H/H setup for fast kill. Once you gain more confident, you may drop VAS all together and get into the middle of a mob fight right away. Ther are better skills than VAS to support Discord necros.

I actually have a question similar to this on the board right now =). I have a way of doing it but was wondering if there is a better one. I can tell you what works when playing a Tank (which really can be a lot of different classes depending on build). Basically this:
1. Put some sort of protection on yourself (via using hero or whatever)
2. Flag H/H back (like really far back).
3. Aggro with bow.
4. Use AoE or something to get a hit on every mob, also, let them hit you a few times.
5. Remove flag for H/H.
Step 4 is key. Due to aggro rules the fact that you have damaged a mob and that they have damaged you, and that you're right next to them should help hold aggro a little on the tank. Incidentally, this same strat can be used with a hero tank ... it's just a little harder. Read this if you haven't: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Aggro
Keep in mind that this works well when fighting a lowish or medium dps group of mobs. When fighting a group with high dps/elemental damage you'll want to send in two tanks at least and/or use more prot skills and/or spread out damage some.

Take a Minion Master, flag H&H, shoot at foes with longbow. Pull foes toward H&H until minions attack, kill stuff, rinse & repeat.
ZodiacFear
Flag heroes, micro PS, block the enemies against a wall/corner.
