So I tried to do duncan nm instead of a hm run.
The results?
I swapped and literally isolated him from EVERYTHING. Took 2 hours.

Then?

I'll get down to the point. Guildies never wanna do duncan nm, and nobody ever pugs anymore.
So I'm left with H/H.
But even after 20 honeycombs and 2 red rock candies, I still lose.
So. HALP?

You almost *have* to tank Duncan in my experience. What would have worked in your situation -- micro and maintain Protective Spirit on the SS Necro who would be the only person in aggro range of Duncan (works well placing them at the bottom of the stairs) while you micro and maintain SS on Duncan.
It works better with SV obviously, but SS would work. Also, swapping (or protting yourself while you get in melee range) and dying will allow you or a teammate (or a hero) to spam Signet of Sorrow on your corpse. If you die, you are fuel for the Signet, if you live, you get to add physical damage.
Of course, if you're talking about dealing with Duncan without a "gimmick," i.e. balanced, spread heroes out, hit and run. Bring res cause even with good prot you'll probably need to Rebirth out and buff up.

Things I'd do:
1. Run SV instead of SS
2. Only swap out the spirits that are immediately around the bottom of the stairs, and maybe the recuperation spirit along the left wall if you happened to pop it. Swapping the others is a waste of time.
3. Run your SV into the corner next to the stairs, and make sure you keep protective spirit on that hero.
4. Go die at Duncan's feet, this way your hero can use Signet of Sorrow as well, to speed up the process.
It's normal mode, so he doesn't kill himself as fast as he would otherwise, but it's a very reliable way of killing him.

Ebon Vanguard Assassin Support > Duncan's Defense. It takes the damage instead of you, meaning you can literally just dodge Spirit Rifts while assassining him to death.

Rup mesmer.. maybe N/Me with SV + mesmer interrupts.
