Please tell me im not crazy Graphical Issues

Hi my Computer is a HP pavilion a6702f the stats for it are as of the following.

AMD Triple Core 2.2GHz CPU
4Gb Ram (4x 1GB)
500GB HDD (7300 rpm)
Nvidia 9100 Desktop Integrated Solution

now i know that the GPU is integrated and rather disgusting but ive run GW on worst i made it run on a ghetto P3 and FX 5500 and got decent frames....
this compter is giving me 7FPS now the weird thing is no matter the settings i get always 7fps no matter where city or field 7fps, now the even more weird thing is that guild wars ran flawless at 61fps when i first installed the game then a couple hours went by and bang performance went doown, the 9100 should be able to get at the very least 20fps it has too i use to play on my white macbook not the gross x3100 but the even worst GMA 950 and i still got decent frames nothing can be worst then a 64mb Intel GMA 950... NOTHING... so i dont get it, ive checked the CPU(s), the ram , HDD, the registry i have uninstalled the graphic driver and installed the newest... tho it is a rather new chip in itself still nothing, tho im starting to think it might be virus, i did a quick scan to find one cookie virus... which is usually nothing too serious like this, and now im doing a whole computer wide scan. i just dont know cause for this computer to get a virus is kinda hard the main owner of the computer is a Download Nazi lol... so i dont know i really have no idea and i wanna play :/ thanks alot

Have you tried to install Guild Wars and do a fresh install? It sounds more like a corruption of the gw.dat then a GPU issue. The 9100m can easily push 25+ FPS in Guild Wars.

So i just uninstalled the program and reinstalled it and im still getting the lag.. the Massive lag, i have been able to play tho by playing on windowed mode and making the box about 320 x 240 Pixels.. and i get 15 - 25 FPS which is... annoying but playable... kinda. another weird thing i noticed is that when the game is opened my entire computer lags right down to typing everything just slooooooows down... i checked task manager and im only using 60% of my ram (10% is actual Gw.exe, the rest is... vista) and my CPU goes to 36% from 2% so i still have plenty a resources to not be lagging...

I also tried Fallout 3 which usually runs very smoothly... it crashed and burned... i also tryed Fable the Lost Chapters and got LAAAGGY results and WoW is Rather Laggy too... it seems something is bottlenecking the computer my anti virus is Norton 360 and it showed nothing Dangerous, also Spybot gave me clean results.

I think the main problem is vista. And no I'm not taking shots at vista because 3/4's the world population has problems with it......actually yeah I am....Vista is problematic, It does weird things, It wasn't designed properly and it uses up as much RAM as it possibly can just for the lulz.

It's either that or the graphics card is overheating. Check for a failed fan or enough dust to be choking the GPU from fresh cool air.

Overheating? Some computers stall when they get too hot to prevent overheating which could explain you get 7fps.

I think it's either

1. Simple overheating due to dust or dead fan
2. Reinstall Vista from scratch (format and everything)
3. Downgrade to the RAM-saving Windows XP.

lol its truuuue , the sad thing is i cant go put on windows XP cause it voids my warranty...., but other then me hating vista it still only goes to 60% usage, the overheating issue could be the CPU but it never goes past 50% so not really that, the ram isnt high tech ram so that should not be overheating, the GPU can't be overheating mostly i think so cause its a chip not a card. i will open the case tomorrow and see if i can clean out some dust and whatever decided to take residence in my case, any tips on cleaning without the Air pressure in a can thing.

PS could it possibly be that Vista is in 64bit mode and GW is obviously a 32bit, tho this type of issue never happened to me before.

if all else fails, have u tried compatability mode? sometimes it makes it worse, sometimes it can fix anythin. trouble with CM is that its always touch n go, but gotta be worth a shot right?

huh.. so this morning i decided to check for dust when i opened the box I cleaned out the 1 fan with my fingers and the CPU heatsink, i then turned on the computer without the side plate on, and im getting my frames on guild wars 40 - 61fps, it does seem that the GPU is not being cooled enough by the passive heatsink.

what can i do to keep the chip cool?

and if its overheating would getting a Geforce 7600 or equivalent (really cheap now and still a good card) stop the overheating due to it having its own fan?

That's your problem right there. Uninstall Norton and use SymNRT to be sure it's gone.

Since you're on Vista, try changing your Power plan to High Performance.

i cant uninstall the anti virus my mum will kill me... even tho im most knowledgeable in computers... What if i just disable Norton when i want to play? i also checked up on norton cause im not a fan of them at all land apperently its not a resource hog and is rather lite on the computer. but anyways what if i just disable it? is there an easy way to disable it? i can do it in msconfig but to disable it, restart, play to then re-enable restart, pass the computer to someone else seems too long and awkward.

Norton is in no way light on a computer's resources. You're really better off trashing it, Notron/Symantec products cause far too many negative issues.

I'll post links where they've done tests into this when I find them.
