Charm Animal Skill

I was just wondering do you have to keep the charm animal skill in your set of 6 in order to keep your animal roaming with you? So, for example, if I took it out my skill set would my pet disappear to?

If you want to use the pet, you must have the skill Charm Animal on your skill bar. If you remove the skill, the pet will not be there, but when you replace it, the pet will be back. And it is a set of 8 skills, not 6.
An advice since you sound like you are new. Don't use a pet unless you are a Ranger. Secondary Rangers can get and use a pet, but it is rarely a good option. Even a Ranger won't always want to use a pet, as some builds work much better without it.
