Network News - Maintenance on August 4

Hi, everyone:

I just wanted to give you a heads-up about a software upgrade on one of our routers tomorrow:

On August 4, 2009 our network team will be performing a software upgrade to correct a performance-affecting issue found on one of the routers in the network. The maintenance will begin at 5:00am PDT (12:00pm GMT) and is expected to end at 7:00am PDT (2:00pm GMT). The impact on players is expected to last no more than 20 minutes at the start of the maintenance window. Players may experience some intermittent interruption in game play during that period, as well as a possible disruption to chat and login.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and we thank you for your patience and understanding.

Thanks for the news. Honestly, considering most MMOs have weekly downtime, its weird (in a nice way) that GW is down for such a small amount of time.

I'm surprised at how little GW has to do this kind of maintenance.

Seriously. There have been a surprisingly small amount of downtime for Guild Wars. Glad they're doing what they can to improve the performance of the network.

That the is the first such maintenance action for as long as I can remember speaks very highly of ArenaNet's programmers (or very poorly about my memory). Either way, I'm impressed by the server stability and speed ArenaNet gives us.

Wish all multiplayer games had such good servers.

Whilst those of the conjecturing kind might find linguistic implications pointing towards the elimination of their lag nemesis, I wholeheartedly warn of hoping that which is not expressively implied by the eloquent flow of words presented in the above. It was not the intend of our dear Regina Buenaobra to coordinate the community towards the shores clear cut statements. All we really know is that sometime, somebody will do something affecting another thing, which may or may not be, in part or total, related to something we want somebody to do something about. Which is all we ever wanted from any elected representative, so it is safe to say, we are honored to receive such treatment as humble customers of a mere product.

I also want to take the time to point out that in order to be offended by this post, one would have insist on it having layers of irony. I reject this idea in the full knowledge that such a disclaimer will only raise further questions in regards to the exact amount of honorability my choice of words actually represent.
