A Few Macro Q's
OoO Rift OoO
I just had a few questions about macros/macro programs....
I know a lot of people use them for drunkard titles, like the autoclicker, but where can i find a program that, in theory, if i were to press the "x" key, it would target party member #3, and use skill #4....(Of course this would require some sort of code/script mapping im assuming).
I know this would be a third party program, and in breach of the EULA, but is there any way of Anet to track me using it? I am kind of weary about using a program, but i know theres tons of people who use them...
Thanks,
~Rift

The only "Authorized" program like this that I know about is the program that comes with the Logitech G-series keyboard. And even with that, you'd have to set one key to "Useskill: 5", another to "target: partymember 4", and yet another to have your keyboard use them.
Anet probably can't figure out if you're using these programs, especially if you're using them in a smart way, but asking about it is a nice way to get your GWG account banned, and your regular account banned too, if it's in your profile.
GG.

As far as I know, using macro software is breaching the EULA agreement while hardware related macroing is OK as long as it's not unattended.
The G11/G15 Logitech keyboard are programmable,
or you could use a Speedpad N52te or similar which is a bit cheaper.

Go to options and change a key to target a party member...best I can think of.

They state that it is OK to use macros when you are playing to help you, but it is NOT OK to make macros that automate things to do while you are away from the computer.
You should be fine, I'm not quite sure why people are scared of using a macro on the G15 since.. all it is, is a keyboard that performs two or three actions togther, the keyboard dosen't send data to the arenanet servers saying "HEY IM A MACRO" .. its client side operations interacting with a few skills in game to make them cast togther, same as snorting crack and clicking on everything you possible can.. no difference. (no i don't snort crack) lol...

I've been using a program called JoyToKey for fun mostly, and it can map a joystick (my case, ps2 controller) to multiple keybinds. I use it for discord calling - the O button is bound to hold ctrl, and hit 1 and 2 (AP+Dwarf). It's not exactly what you're looking for, since I doubt you want to use a ps2 controller constantly, but I just thought I'd throw that in there.

It's still a very grey area. Certainly, the so-called drunkard bots will gain you a perma-ban, but other macros that enable keypress shortcuts are not seen as automation.
With a G-series keyboard it is a very simple matter. For example, when the big RoJ buff came along, I played with one that made all three monk heroes set a J-beam off at the same time. I just needed to assign 3 keys (I used NumPad 1, 2 and 3) for " Activate Hero 1 skill 1" , "Activate Hero 2 skill 1" and "Activate Hero 3 skill 1", then program a G-key to activate NumPad1, 2 and 3 at the same time.

Can I ask what you would use this for?

Monking, duh.
The OP's obviously like me - his reactions suck ^_^

Answer: timing. The macro would do the exact same keypresses, in the exact same order, in the exact same time, every time. If someone really wanted to, you could scan logs and search for patterns.
But I doubt that ANet would waste their time to check if you (out of millions) are using a healing macro (or even care)

I was playing around with it and remapped some keys to target perty member X and use skill X, but it wasnt working so i gave up..
And to be honest, i know for a fact, there are thousands of others who use key macros that go unbanned, and if i were to use it, i doubt id get banned unless i went around spamadan spamming i use macros to play gws!""
^ i prot, and when we face spikes, im like 2.3 seconds too late on the SB Dx

Macros are allowed if you are at the keyboard and just want to simplify some actions. What is not allowed is walking away from the keyboard while your bot carries on.

I have one of theese keypds, it's not expensive and helps a lot with certain macroing. Only problem is that I keep it right of my keyboard as well as my mouse, so it will get messy if you keep switching hand between mouse/keypads. If you mainly use skills through your keyboard rather than clicking with mouse, it's a good alternative:
Belkin Speedpad n52te
It's easy to setup easy macros with it, for example repeatable keys/macros that either keep repating until you stop it, or keep running while you hold down the key. You could for example use the 5 top keys for selecting 5 first party members, 5 mod keys for your 5 first skills, and bottom 4 keys for heroes, like flagging them around or activating hero skills.
Start with easy areas, for example helping friends or random pugs in a lowbie area to get used to it before you start to using it seriously while progressing in game.
I used this for example with Kilroy Stonekin's Punchout Extravaganza. Hold one key to spam punches, 1 key for interrupt, and other keys for set attack combos. And of course simply holding 1 key to spam "STAND UP!" when you got knocked down :-)
