Hello

I've been away for about a year now and I decided to dust off GW for a while and be reunited with some friends. However I was quickly reminded of an annoyance in Guild Wars.

Is there any way of preloading zones before I play or will I be stuck loading them 1 by 1.

use the -image command line switch. beware though, you'll be downloading GW in its entirety, which is currently around 3.5 gb.

3.5? That's hardly too much for my hard drive.

Look like I'll have to leave my laptop on overnight though.

Thanks man.

the small amount that GW takes up on a hard drive is yet another reason I like the game

WoW takes up a whopping 13.5 Gigs, the big ol fatty

Yeah, so easy to even bring GW on a 4G USB stick :-)

So wait... where is this command line switch, is it in the game folder?

You have to add it to the shortcut. See this thread if you're using Vista, or do this if you're in XP.

Also, I'll move this to Tech Corner just in case you need further help.

If you right-click on the shortcut icon and select properties, there is a target field that probably says something like

"C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe"

Add -image to the end of that, and then run the game:

"C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" -image
