1 year ago, after my guild broke up and many of them moved onto WoW or some other games. I quit playing Guild Wars and started playing Team fortress 2 a lot. Then some of my guildmates started getting back together and I decided to dust of Guild Wars and have some fun.
My question is what major events, nerfs to builds I would know, etc etc happened while I was gone?
I already know about the PvE and PvP skill split which frankly I'm not a fan of.
Alright so what have I missed in 1 year?

Besides the usual skill changes, there were a few things introduced in the 4th anniversary of GW update.
I'd say the big thing are z-quests, daily quests that reward you with tokens that can be used to buy a variety of unique things, including additional storage space in the form of equipment packs.

There is also The Traveler, and NPC collector who gives you at most 5 gifts and changes location and item collected every Monday morning.

IMO the split was a good introduction..but the problem was the skills that people used in PvE and PvP that got nerfed for PvP only purposes was never reverted for it's PvE version.

I think you would have missed some alterations to various allegience titles and the methods of obtaining faction.
Some stuff was added in April for the 4th Anniversary. Nicholas the Traveler gives 5 gifts in exchange for stuff that changes every week, the Zaishen Quests are in the Great Temple and the Zaishen Menagerie is an excuse for new content where you stick your pets you collect.
Oh, and you may have missed the removal of Victory or Death along with the nerf to Ursan Blessing.

You can now have obtain a moss spider as a pet.
Character makeovers and name changes.
A group of assassins can now clear the Underworld in Hardmode in like 20 minutes. As such, most elite areas of the game can be speed cleared and farmed easily with monks or assassins.

Since when?
I remember UW could be farmed with 55HP monk and a SS nerco but my guess is the assassins have basically taken over everything right? |
Other things that you missed is a bunch of brand new weapons.

record of UW is less then 10 mins for a full run.
idea is simple, 7 sins go in, every sin solo's one quest or more.
and 1 SS necro that helpes with vale.
600/smite teams can clear almost every dungeon in eotn.
ecto's are now 4.1K
want more assa UW info give me an PM and i am happy to explain it

There is also a big buff to rts in PvE (most spirits now have a casting time of 1 second). As such, there is now a R/Rt solo farm build for UW as well. Doesn't do the speed clear pace or the quests, but good if you don't want to have to rely on other people.
