I have decided to replace my current 19 inch crt as it is getting a little old and dark, but i obviously did not want to spend too much

i took a peek around to see if anything caught my eye but the only ones that really pops out at me are here : aria.co.uk :&: here ocuk :

What monitors are you guys using and/or what would you recommend? I really have no set budget but £100/£200 or less? would be perfect! it is mostly for gaming

It's going on a 4870 (4870x2 in the near future) and i was looking at 23" ideally if that helps...

I use a Samsung 226BW, it's a 22" widescreen LCD, and displays GW's nicely at 1620 x 1050, and I got it from overclockers, but that was about a year ago now and things have moved on in the meantime. The aria one looks the better bargin on paper, mainly for gaming the response time for both monitors is right where it should be.

Only thing will be is if your graphics card is upto the (usually) higher resolutions that LCD monitors use.

One thing you'll notice in the above linked article is no mention of "Arianet". I've never heard of them either. I suspect they are either a "house brand" or low-end junk - sometimes these house brands or low-end suppliers can make a good product, but it's iffy at this stage. (And sometimes, like Acer, they can move up a notch or two.)

Edit: Samsung is a very good choice for brand (I've had several myself), but the one mentioned below has a sort of oddball resolution (2048x1152). To keep things more compatible with current things, HDTV rez of 1920x1080 may be a better choice.

I think Europe always has different model numbers, this one is SM2343BW but it has the same specs as mine. Might be a newer/refresh model.

This is an insanely good monitor for really cheap, the reason being is they cut a few corners on the base/stand. It's fixed, you need to assemble it yourself (not that hard), and you can't really adjust it. It does turn up/down a bit, but you're probably better off proping it up on a stand or some books if it's not at head level. The framing is TINY, about 1/2 inch, so all you see is screen screen and more screen. The brightness on this monitor is enough to blind you, I have it turned way down. It's like a flashbang at a setting of "100".

It is a good looking monitor (spec wise too) i found it cheeper on a few other sites too like ebuyer http://www.ebuyer.com/product/152744

Anyway, so far i still have NOT made up my mind lol but i am still looking and thanks for the help

I've done a crazy amount of reading reviews and other peoples opinions etc and so i finally caved in and bought a Dell S2409W!

Everything seems solid and the display is perfect, Why oh why did i stick with my old 19inch CRT for all this time (Slap Self)

One thing to note about the S2409W - unlike the majority of monitors nowadays, it's 16:9, rather than the more usual 16:10. That makes it better for movies as it's in perfect proportion for 1080P (1920x1080) - but not quite so good for games which would scale to 1920x1200 on a standard 16:10 set.

I love it - but I bet certain people would have pointed you in the direction of something like the Samsung SM-2433BW for a two-footer.

Copying or not it's a nice monitor though aint it!

I was going to go for one of the samsung monitors, I just couldn't decide which one :s but with all the good things i read about the dell and it being cheaper than some of my other choices i couldn't help myself!

And luckily for me i need the monitor for gaming more than anything else, i can watch films on the telly downstairs so 16:9 was a bit of a factor, a friend plays games on a samsung 16:10 and it is a little bit stretched.

Anyway, Back to call of duty

Get a 16:9 monitor. The length does justive advantage of fps. Btw any games that support 16:10 format also support 16:9.
