I'm starting to get back into Guild Wars, after remembering how awesome it was and how much time I wasted every night playing.
I've been playing since Guild Wars: Prophecies came out, and I played through the respective Nightfall and Factions campaigns. I also purchased the Eye of the North expansion and played halfway through that one. After that, I put Guild Wars aside to focus on playing my guitar and schoolwork.
After what seems like forever, I've come back with a renewed excitement for the game. I have it installing on my computer now, what have I missed? What got nerfed? What got added? Fill me in.
Longtime player returning after long hiatus: What's new?

Head over to wiki.guildwars.com to check out anything that has been added in since you left.
A good thing to do (after a break like I took once) is to realize that the past when you were a zombie like everyone else demanding this and that, you step back and realize that comming back from a long break makes you realize the game is great. I don't know how but it does, and you just generally stop paying attention to the QQ'rs about the stupid problems that aren't infact problems at all, gw is a storyline game with things you can achieve while flying solo in the game ignoring the idiots, so do that and you will be happy you did.
And one more thing, have fun!

^^ Another doofus who thinks that, just because a lot of people are doing UWSC, that that's all there is to do.
To the OP - there's been various skill changes and the like. Nothing too major as far as the overall gameplay is concerned. More kiddie stuff like "Party Animal" title and Tonics, but nothing that requires you to get involved with them.

Recent highlights for me:
1. Zaishen quests from Great Temple of Balthazar: get extra rep/fac points and eventually get equipment packs (up to 20 extra slots on a character)
2. Storybooks: another way to get extra rep/fac points
3. Extra storage panes ($10 each from online store)
4. Buffs to Rt, P, and D to make those classes more fun
5. Buffs to pets (finally!) along with the new Zaishen Menagerie as a place to unlock and store them
Btw I've never done any UWSC or other speed runs, and I find plenty in the game to enjoy.
