the CSigil difference?
nintai
I remember, a long time ago, that if you had won or bought (from a player) a Celestial Sigil, the hall you get with it would display your cape on the flags within the hall. Where, if you bought it from the trader, the hall would display a default boring flag. Can anyone confirm if this is true or if even still happens......
I checked both wikis and there isn't a mention about this at all.

never heard of this been playing sence day 1
makosi
I've heard of it before but I can't confirm nor deny.

no...it always displays your cape, which is why you cant get a guild hall without one.
nintai
well, I know this isn't true, my current hall displays a flag that looks nothing like our cape and I know for a fact that the sigil used to create the hall was bought from the sigil trader.

It strikes me that if this was something that did happen, or does happen, we would know about it, and there would be mention of it all over the place. 'HoH Sigils' would cost 100k+xx, or we as players would notice it and be impressed by those guilds. If nothing else it would have been in the notes section of one of the wikis. It's too desirable a feature to not be noticed. Even if it was a past feature they've since removed, all of the older players would be clamoring for it to come back.
That's just my opinion of course. This is the first I've ever heard about it though.

Thats what I figured. It was just a rumor I heard a couple years ago and since I'm now going to be starting a new guild, I thought I'd try to find out for sure.

I have to admit that I always thought that the conditions were that you earnt the sigil and you were the one requesting the hall. Once it left your account it didnt display guild cape on the banners.

It use to be that you had to have a sigil to buy the hall and there's never been a cape on the flags. I used to think that they should put the cape on flags, that's how I remember that they don't.
Alleji
Pretty sure it's just an urban legend.

Sounds like a rumor to drive up sigil prices IMO

I'm in my hall right now and there are no emblems on the flags unless I enter a GvG match. As far a I'm aware, this is always the case.
MisterB
You can TexMod your cape design onto the flags. I've never heard of this rumor, but TexModded screens may be the cause.

Was never true....

Its totally true.

Don't want to waste my sigils on this but seems unbelievable. This just can't be connected to a sigil. The banner displayed in GH can sometimes be your guilds cape but it can also clear itself when the instance is created another time.
I've also seen the banner in my GH become the cape of a completely different guild - usually it was the guild we've just played a GvG match against.

Urban myth.
It'd be nice if they made it so the Guild Hall has capes instead of generic flags (but for all sigils, of course - most of us don't play HA or indeed, give two shits about PvP these days).
For that matter, making an option to treat Guild Halls as a PvE area would be nice (so I can fiddle with builds and not have silly PvP skills show up).

^PvP hate there alright.

I think the main reason for the PvP hate is how inaccessible it seems to newer players. I mean I've only done PvP during events. I don't hate it at all, but the thought of going into an arena and trying to find a team that's willing to put up with my learning curve rather than telling me 'n00b-STFU-Get A Life-*Kick* is quite daunting.
Particularly as my main is monk. Talk about stressful.
I'm hoping GW2 has a way of getting round this. Then maybe we'll see an end to PvP hate.
