Looking to play GW1/2, Diablo1/2/3, and Aion, as well as some other games that I'm sure will run if the ones listed will. I know that some specs aren't out yet, but I'm sure some people have some ideas of what will be needed. So yeah, will they all work fine with the current specs?
Please try to keep comments sort of dumbed-down. I'm not all that great with computer stuff, I just play em.
Opinions please, and will this all work together?

should work just fine - even although the specs for 50% of the games listed aren't out I'm sure that system will be overkill for them all anyway.

I don't think the motherboard is a good choice. The Gigabyte UD3R (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128375) has similar features but costs significantly less. For the same price as the Intel, you could get the Asus P6T/P6TLE or the eVGA SLI LE, which get you 6 RAM slots, better expansion card layout, and better overclocking.
Other than that though, the setup looks fine.

i actually was originally going to get the UD3R lol. so i guess ill just change it back and get that, ty for the tip
ive heard that vista/7 still has compatibility issues with some games, age of empire for example. and im just not computer literate enough to get past it without whining at my bf for help if the issue comes up with one of the games i have, wouldnt wanna put him through that

Compatibility with vista has increased a lot since its release. Even the old games have been looked at and received support. IMO, just upgrade to vista. Despite what people say, it has improved. I tried using XP on friends computers and I'm ashamed to say that nifty functions that Vista has can really endear itself ^^ (like interacting with your windows explorer address bar). Plus, Vista can really shine with proper machines like yours.
BTW, don't forget to get the 64bit OS to get over the RAM limit!

Just a quick aside: If you're shying away from Vista/Win7 because of "unsolved compatibility issues," you're going to just love XP 64*

On your place I would switch 3x1 gb to 3x2 gb RAM. RAM is among the cheapest components anyway, and it's surprisingly what your build is lacking. Both Vista and W7 will eat a lot of your RAM so it would be nice to have 2gb spare RAM for system buffer and applications in the background and then free 4gb for your game, judging by your build overall and resolution of screen there is no logical reason to bottleneck entire system with a ... low amount of ram. I won't comment on processor vs graphic card, many would say it's fine while the other it doesn't pay off to get such a good proc and only one 275 card ... well, doesn't matter, you will replace it with gt300 later anyway, since the rest is pretty much fine (and by that I say you won't have any reason to get rid of your i7 in nearest 3-4 years since now).

mmk maybe ill get vista if i can figure out why there's so many websites complaining that i7s and vista run slowly together. shit, ill just get it. gogo warranty and complain if it is slow. plus vista comes with a coupon for windows 7, so ill probably change to 7 when it comes out. guess that works
@ambient, i wouldve liked to get higher than the 275, but my comp randomly crapped out and i only have so much money atm and 3 weeks without a comp is driving me insane, ill probably change it later.

forewarning- LG dvd burner can be at first annoying - you may need to D/L a patch for it. (it has this internal drag and drop software on it, my pc didnt properly identify the unit as a dvd burner at first, thought it was a cd rom drive)

I would recommend bumping the RAM; 3GB is getting to be on the low end, especially if you're going to keep the machine for a while (you mentioned five-year timeframe).
Also, I can't tell from your posts: are you building this yourself or having it built?

I would say as far as ram goes try and get 3 2gb sticks then later if you want you can get another 3 2gb sticks and you dont have to get rid of anything

Put 4 GB RAM in it if you're going to use 64bit Windows. The 64bit OS and 4 GB RAM work hand in hand with each other. Further, contrary to popular belief, having more than 4 GB RAM is not going to make it really that much faster. You've really gotta be pushing a machine to use all that memory. 4 GB is today's standard with high-end gaming systems... above that is Server standard where multiple users log into the same machine. Of course, it doesn't hurt to have all that extra memory if you really want to have it, but I doubt seriously you will use that much for quite some time (when software gets more memory intensive). Meanwhile, you've spent money on RAM that is really not necessary.
