Unmentioned update?

Something weird happened when trying to log on GW today. The client froze on the 'Connecting to ArenaNet' screen for about 30-40 seconds, then I got the game update window and it started to download a new update with ~6000 files.

Thinking its a new -big- update, I went on to check for its contents on the the official site and Guru, to my surprise there weren't any new updates listed or mentioned, so I closed the download window immediately.

The last time I logged on was a couple of days ago, in which I played for about two - three hours stopping after getting a 'Critical Error' and window and client crashing. Not thinking much about it I clicked on 'send report thingy' and just called it a day..

Was there a new update that they forgot to mention? did this happen to anybody else? Could this be a new hack of some sort?

Maybe I'm being a bit paranoid but I'm not taking any chances. >_>;

Yep, sounds like a corrupted DAT file - suggest you try a "-repair" and if that fails, rebuild it with "-image"

There's no new update AFAIK - I just checked, and it's been a few days since I logged in, and no new updates. I'd say it was the critical error you received corrupting your .dat file.. which your now re-downing/fixing. I'd suggest trying -repair and -image to resolve.

Closing Thread - if you need information on how to do -repair and/or -image then please visit the Technical forums.
