How can you donate Kurzick faction while in a Luxon guild (or vice versa)?
jray14
Up til now I've been working on both my Kurzick and Luxon title tracks by having a tiny guild just for me & my alts and switching its allegiance whenever I want to donate to the other faction.
I'd like to join an actual guild soon, and I'm wondering how this kind of thing will work. I see from the wiki that a guest invitation won't help. Maybe I could keep my own tiny guild aligned with the other faction and just bounce back and forth between it and the real guild as needed, but I figure that'd probably annoy the guild leader. Or perhaps some guilds have alt-guilds set up exactly for this purpose. Ideas?

There is no way. The guild would have to switch allegiance or you would have to change guilds.
And, yes, larger guilds quite often have sister guilds for the other faction. Perhaps you could make such an arrangement with another guild. Do remember that you cannot leave your guild if you are the only member without having to repurchase a Celestial Sigil and Cape when you want to go back.

You can always get Amber/Jadeite, elite mission scrolls, and skills from the opposite of your alliance in House zu Heltzer or Cavalon - you just can't donate to the alliance since it's the wrong faction. You can still get "double points" on your title by getting skills if you're looking for boosts in the rank.
As an example, I'm in a Kurzick guild. If I wanted a Passage Scroll to the Deep, I would take 1,000 Luxon faction to Cavalon and get it. It's really that simple.

Can you purchase skills from the scavenger/bureaucrat in a guild hall on a guest invite? If so, I guess a strategy could be to make a new char every time I want to dump the other faction, give myself a guest invite to my own guild, and get that char to the guild hall to buy skills. I think all you need to do to get to the guild hall is reach a port like Lion's Arch / Kamadan / Kaineng Center, right?

You also have to be level 20 to get the skills, and PvP characters can't learn them, so I doubt it's worth the hassle of getting a brand new character to 20 before dumping faction.

As long as you have more Luxon faction, any Scavenger will talk to you and vice versa.
And, yes, just get your character to a port, which makes Nightfall the easiest.
I forgot about level 20 to buy the skills. That makes Factions the quickest.

Yeah - if you're not bothered about giving faction to an alliance then just accumulate faction and give it in at the appropriate location.
Remember though ('cause it catches out some of our newer members!) that you lose opposing faction when you turn it in - so if you're working on Luxon - don't do quests that give Kurzick as you'll lose those points when you give in your Luxon.
We had one member leave us to complete the initial 10k quest because we were Luxon and he had Kurzick to get - he'd played for over a year too...

Aha, didn't realize that. It seems more sensible then to just make due with single points and then sell the amber/jade/scrolls. That is, unless there are guilds out there who are cool with people switching in and out to dump opposite faction occasionally. Any downsides to switching in/out of a guild besides having to hassle the guild officers for an invite each time?

Perhaps you need to look for a guild that changes often. I know there are some guilds that will change allegiance every 6 months for this reason. January thru June they fight for the Luxons. Come July, they turn Kurzick.

best advice i can give ya is focus on one till its maxed, nothing worse than loosing faction for donating faction.
