Soul Reaping and Fast Casting

I've always been curious about this: If you go through collectors, there are a lot of collectors for items that have HSR/HCT of fast casting/soul reaping attributes in proph. Why is this? Is it a glitch (Like the collectors were randomly generated, and they forgot to omit these attributes?), or is this some kind of joke from the creators?

Just curious.

Means that a Mesmer could cast super-fast.

And Necros... so what? they just get to use more energy like the other professions. Might even regain less energy if they kill faster.

Right those two attributes that you mention are Primary's only. You can not have Soul and fast casting on a Necro/Mesmer.

so they added the HRT/HCT to speed things up. remember that these are only a chance of having this not a certain thing. The mesmer fast casting was guaranteed.

I think you guys are missing the point of a very legitimate question - there's not a single Soul Reaping skill in Prophecies, and the only Fast Casting skill in Prophecies is a Stance (Mantra of Recovery).

Good question, OP, I have no idea. I didn't start until Factions was around, so I don't know if collectors existed since day 1.

I think they just seeded them in every attribute without ever thinking about it. "Durr monks and eles have primary skills, lets just give everyone primary weapons...."

Never even thought of that before >_<

In that case, yeah, they probably just did that to save 2 or 3 words of code >_<

well they did not think much making the war either. They have 3 attributes in which to place the alotted points. IN a Weapon..in Strength and in Tack. An ele only has 2 Energy storage and say Fire making them stronger. so...

The mesmer Fast Casting was to stand alone I do believe and a buff to all skills. This is why I made a mesmer as my very first guild wars toon ever. I deleted him cause I was like this is just dumb when you are being killed my 20 charr in the northlands and can only attack one foe at a time!

its like the game was rushed to market before things were finalized. We all know this is a real possibility. This is why I want GW2 to come out next year at christmas!! Give them time to complete it..get it right - balance it as best as possible -run trials - complete the classes - and give us the Best Game Ever!!!

....or maybe Anet intended to add more skills in the SR and FC attribute later on.

And imnotyourmother, that's a really vague post you made there. Fast Casting doesn't work on all skills, only on Spells and Signets.

Not knowing how to use terrain to your advantage FTL.

To the OP:

I'm voting that it was a joke by the creators. Planning to add extra skills later on/automatic generation only go so far as an answer.

Soul reaping greens /w HSR are available as late as EotN, by which time it was pretty much expected that no new skills were coming out, so planning to add skills can't be an answer.

Also greens are supposedly "designed" by the devs, it can't just be a coding oversight.

I believe what Arduinna is saying is that when they made Prophecies, they envisioned making SR/FC skills in later expansions. Also, I'm really not sure what greens have to do with any of this, especially EotN ones.

I think they just put collectors for every attribute, just in case they decided to add skills later. Or they just generated bonuses for all the attributes without regard to their usefulness. Those collectors have always been there, zelgadissan. It was pointed out how these items offered useless bonuses for skills that did not exist. I don't know the answer, nor do I recall if any has been given.

"Pre-nerf" is incorrect. It's pre-buff.

There were Fast Casting and Soul Reaping spells in the alphas/betas that weren't introduced in the final release but the FC/SR offhands/wands were left in as an oversight.

That's what I rememeber reading somewhere, although it'll take me hours to find that thread.
