Graphic Error

Hi.
I took a break from GW for a few weeks and now that I'm back I've got a problem. This:

It isn't like this all the time. It happens most often when I'm in crowded outposts or when in gvg, ha or observing and there are a lot of people standing near each other.

First I thought it was due to my audio setup because it happened almost exclusively when I was running teamspeak or vent but then it occured once or twice without either of them running.

This doesn't happen instantly. Like five seconds before the visual errors show up the game freezes for a second and then runs normal until objects on screen start vanishing or distorting / bending / whatever. After a few seconds it gets all laggy and there's this white snow and sometimes colored shapes.

When this happens I usually have a few seconds to switch to destktop, open up task manager and kill the gw.exe process before the computer freezes. If I do nothing the game just comes to halt and the computer just dies. No blue screen, no fatal error dialog, no nothing.

Funny thing is that no matter how much the gw world graphics break down the menu items seem to be unchanged. I really have no idea what's causing this problems as I didn't change anything on my computer during the time I had a break from GW.

And I have the impression that this happens more often when I am playing in windowed mode. I had it in fullscreen mode once but it wasn't that severe and gw just closed down without any error message but the computer didn't freeze. But I couldn't really say if this is just an impression or wheter it's true since I am most of the time playing windowed...

Help on this would be really nice

Reinstall your graphics drivers and see if that fixed it, if not open your computer and check for dust clogging air ports and fans, blow all the dust you see out. You'd be surprised how much dust can overheat or affect a system, I had a similar problem, when the dust was all gone it was back to normal. The part where you said "This doesn't happen instantly." makes me most suspicious of the card overheating quickly after working to produce GW's graphics.

Thanks for the input so far. Already opened up my computer and checked it right away after first time this happened. No dust and all fans are working fine. Also monitored the temps and they barely climb above 68°C (GeForce 8600 GT)...I don't know about the margins of that card but 70°C seem still okay to me (please tell if I'm wrong here)...

Will try to reinstall drivers when I'm back home but thing that is beyond me is why are my menu-items okay when rest of the screen is all mashed up? Wouldn't bad drivers effect the whole graphics? (If not, please explain...I'm very curious)

safe zone for v card usually 40 - 60 Celsius ur card may be over heating. it dosnt happen after u just launch gw after a while correct if so. ur card may be over heating causing it to be unable to create the images as fast and your pc is shutting down to protect it's self. make sure theirs enough air flow in your pc ur card is a few years old i take it and you most likely play on high settings try dialing it down to medium and shut off shadows and such. comment back
