fire imp
Warbog The Slayer
i want to get LDoA and i heard that its easier with summoning stone fire imp, i have all campagins but i bought them before the fire imp update ,i know u can bought them from ingame shop but i dont have a credit card and my father doesn't want to give me his credit card .... the question is that if i buy ,for exemple faction campagim(from a shop) wich has the imp update on it could i add it on my account? or it will say it already had this campaign and i cant add it?

I have the imp on my account, and have had all 3 campaigns since they were released. Have you tried typing /bonus in-game to see if a imp summoning stone pops up in your inventory?

You shouldnt need to buy another chapter, thats just silly. Type /bonus while in town or outpost and the imp will show in your inventory. and he does help out a ton in pre.

Now to answer your question bdordai , as long as the copy of the game that you buy has a picture of the imp on the back and says something along the lines of ''includes bonus fire imp'' then adding it to your account will unlock the fire imp for you .This is what i had to do myself.

[QUOTE=citizensmith1001;4816711]Wrong , he said that he bought all 4 games before the 2008 update that added the imp so sadly /bonus wont work.
If the game you bought said "Game of the Year" it will have the fire imp even
if you bought it before the 2008 update.

[QUOTE=Satu-Wyvern;4816767]This seems to have been true for some but not all, some of my alliance members have stated that they got it when it was released whilst owning the GotY edition before the imp was released. And yet on the other hand a couple of my guildies and a few other alliance members did not even though they had GotY as well.

Fire imp is nice and is helpfull but sure you not need him. You can summon him only until you reach level 20 which is pretty soon (how soon depends on which campaign you play). Anyway, much much greater help is to have heroes (unless of course you have friends to play with).

Well if it any type of consolation… if you need to run from a bad agro etc... the Imp will die and since there is a 30min recharge period you need to zone or wait it out. I have used the Imp he can get powerful since he follows your progression I think his armor gets better too so he is probably the best armored npc in the nooblet area. You can also can get the NPC to help you fight (can’t think of his name) the one you look for over the wall quest. If you pick him up with the Imp and a pet you can have a 4 man team solo build which helps on the earlier levels.

Surely he can go into the ingame store when he logs into GW, and select, GoTY edition and upgrade to it for cheap ( if he really wants it )

To answer the OP's question, yes it will add it to your account.
It won't matter if you already have factions or not. You just add the access key from the new game, and you will get the imp without worrying about any changes made to your account except for that.
It's how people already have the basic game, but they go out and buy the Collector's Edition for the bonus stuff. You just add the key to your account and it won't do anything but add the bonus stuff.
He already said he doesn't have a credit card and he can't use his Dad's card either. So his only option is to buy it at a retailer.

seems a bit of a waste of money to buy a campaign simply to add a fire imp, just my .02 of course.

Pet = Warrior level armor
Fire Imp = Elementalist level armor
pets have higher AL than the imp would, however lack of pet attacks limits usefulness to a degree.

Perhaps your dad would get you a Visa gift card if you gave him the money for it? While you can't buy them if you are under 18, there is nothing stopping you from using one to make a purchase. Then you could buy the GotY upgrade for $4.99 from the online store.
As for why some people with all campaigns have the imp and some don't. --
"If you've already purchased any of the Guild Wars games via the in-game store or PlayNC.com, access to the Fire Imp will be added to your account automatically on September 5, 2008."
You had to have purchased something from the in-game store prior to that date. For example, I had purchased the BMP from ANet, so I had the imp.

In my opinion, the imp is mainly useful for helping a mid level character (~8-12) fight charr in the northlands.
After level 12 or 13, I normally don't bother with the imp. He can be pretty stupid when it comes to aggro.

If they get the weapons from GOTY when they /bonus they will get the imp. Make sure there is enough room in your inventory for all the weapons and the imp. A guildie contacted support for this problem and it turned out he didn't have enough room in his inventory as the imp stone is that last to thing to load.

Yeah pets are fun, I like to smite and bond mine on m/r and play pre searing 600/smite.
Honestly the fire imp is handy but only to the point of death leveling. Once you hit this stage there is a risk. He will either get wtfpwnt by leveled up angry Charr, or he will kill one or two of them while your dead and ruin your 30 mins of setup and death.
If you can get one with /bonus /cokeplay command by all means yay for that.
but dont buy one or buy a chapter just to get one when you can have a pet with a ranger subjob. I will admit I use mine often to farm the bosses on my perma pre necro MM but if your going for the title he is not a necessity at all.

doesn't the store now take paypal, then there are prepaid cards. Maybe it's worth $5 but not much more.
