Vista Woes / Templates
[MLM]Will Run
I've upgraded to vista and now having issues with Guild Wars Multi Launch and templates.
C:\Users\Brandon\Documents\Guild Wars\Templates is one folder that some were saved in initially...
C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Templates is another
C:\Program Files\Copy of Guild Wars\Templates is still yet another after GWML
I'm trying to figure out how to centralize where my templates are stored and accessed.
I would prefer C:\Users\Brandon\Documents\Guild Wars\Templates but I'll take what I can get.
I've tried placing shortcuts in Program Files\(Copy of)Guild Wars\Templates pointing to Documents but no luck...

is it saving templates from one copy of GW in the one folder and the templates from the other copy of GW in another folder - or is it all mixed together?

then after gw multi launch it saved each in it's respective folders Gw and Copy of Gw
I cant find out how to get both gw and copy of to save all templates into C:\Documents
With just normal gw it works great

Very odd. My templates have never gone anywhere other than C:\Users\Snograt\Documents\Guild Wars\Templates
Try asking imkey - hopefully he's still around

I have Vista as well and run GW Multi-Launcher with no template or other problems. Like Snograt, my templates are all in one location. The only thing I've done is to put duplicate copies of the GW executable and the gw.dat file in a GW2 driectory for Multi-Launch to use.

Going to create a GW2 folder and just copy gw.exe and gw.dat in
perhaps that will solve it.
after creating gw2 and placing gw.exe and gw.date and copy of (both) pointing launcher there I get error:
Unable to open Archive file
Gw is unable to access its open archive file ... please verify that file is accessible and writable

Reinstalled guild wars multi launch using new UI download for some reason it still searching for templates in respective copies of folders.
AnClar would you provide screenshots of where your gwml points too? I tried copying gw.exe and gw.dat over to C:\Users\Brandon\Documents\Guild Wars\Templates twice and pointing launcher there and was receiving an error

Guld Wars will happily install anywhere you care to put it - so I suggest you [i]don't[/] put it in C:\Program Files (or C:\Program Files (x86) if you're running 64 bit).
The reason for this is that, certainly on Vista, the Program Files folder is more protected than other folders, so copying files from there can lead to problems with permissions.
The way I always install games is to have a normal folder straight off root, e.g. C:\Games\ - everything gamey goes in there. I have C:\Games\Guild Wars for the original installation and C:\Games\GW2 for the second account. Nice, simple path names.
(Actually, that's an over-simplification of my situation as I have two hard drives and I dual-boot Vista and Win7 - but the theory is sound!)

solution for future reference:
do not run in xp compatibility mode or gw will run like the OS is xp.
