You can search for Primary quests and missions on wiki, this way you can see that where are you in the storyline.
Here is the Nightfall Storyline, in case you would not be able to find it for the 1st time: http://www.wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/L...tfall_missions

Hey
1 I think you mean that you wanna leave lstan not the island of shekan .
There are 2 ways to leave istan : get a run (i dont recommend that if you are new), or play through the story line you can leave istan when you did the 4th mission
2 you get new scythe's , armor, skills if you play the story line.
and if you got enough gold then you can buy scythe from players.
if you want new skils you need to find a skil trainers or you need to unlock a skill with balthazar factions and get it on your pve character with a tome.
if you need some help pm me in game ign= cheape arie

Do you mean Istan? Did you get to Kamedan?
You need to do the primary quest line, talking to First Spear Dehvad or checking in Champion's Dawn for it might be a good start, basically you need to find out where to get your next primary quest in order to continue the story.
New armor is available at crafters and collectors, there are armor crafters at several outposts throughout Istan. I usually get my first set at Jokanur Diggings, then max armor at Consulate Docks.
New scythe you can buy from a player, get at a crafter or collector, or find as loot.
Added you in game.

Well, the best thing for you is the wiki for guild wars. You just go to google and type in guild wars wiki and it should be the first link.
As for helping you out myself...I dont remember much about NF from the beginning but all i can say is continue with the primary quests and missions. and it should progress you through the game without problems.
As for armor, youll have to buy it from an armorer in one of the towns/outposts. Same for weapons (but from a weaponsmith) or you can get ont to drop from a monster.
But I say your best bet is still with wiki, just go and type in the quest or whatever your having trouble with and you should be just fine

Do quests to get off the island. Just pick up a max scythe, at lvl9 mods dont really matter so you can just buy a white/blue one for 500g/1k in Kamadan. You can also buy max armor in Consolate Docks (iirc)

You'll likely have reached about level 17 by the time you've progressed through tthe story to be able to leve Istan island
I'm guessing you're at the position where one of your outstanding quests is "The Honorable General" where you have to reach rank First Spear or Level 12. That's usually the point people get held up if they've not done it before. Once you get past that, your primary quests will stear you along the right path
Best bet is completing all the quests you can find; Zehlon Reach jhas quite a few if you go hunting; and pick up every bounty you can from the resurection shrines

Guild Wars is Linear, in that you progress through the game by following a story line path. Somewhere along the way you have not picked up primary quests that lead you along this path. Any quests in your quest log are good to do in order to obtain items, gold and experience, but the primary quests MUST be done in order to move you forward in that linear path. Not doing them will keep you stuck there for a very long time.
Look around for exclamation points over the heads of NPC's and animated arrowheads/starbursts on your map telling you where to go to complete said quests.
Good Luck and Have Fun!
