Hi there,

I played a couple years ago with Prophecies and Factions. Then I bought Nightfall, but my computer broke down and I stopped playing for a couple years. So Now im on a new computer and i re downloaded Guild Wars from my Nightfall cds. Loading times for areas take forever to download (lots of files that I missed getting since I stopped playing). Is there a way to speed things up?
I still have my Factions cds as well. I don't know where I placed my Prophecies campaign cds though if that helps.

Thanks.

Ditch the CD's, you don't need them. Even the NF CD's or EoTN Cd's will have outdated clients on them. Now since you already downloaded the game you don't need to download it again but i would have recommended guildwars.com/download. The game client is all the same, the CD's are just box fillers IMO.

Now that it's installed.. you want to do -image. I'd recommend reading this:

-image. think there's a stick about this even because of how much it gets asked.

Uninstall Guildwars from your computer, then go to the Guildwars site and re-download it digitally.

be warned the -image command will take a long time, very very long if you have bad internet and you wont be able to play gw while its downloading everything, i suggest you run it overnight.

I just used the image command two days ago after only loading up Lions Arch and the Random Arenas...-image had me download the remaining 87,000 files and it took 4 hours for me.

You don't need cd's, and if you wanted to you could install the full client and -image it on any computer you want to play the game on, so long as you login to the account on it. You can only be logged into one account on one computer, so dont try to play it on two computers at once.

You don't need to -image on other computers. Download the initial game client, then when it starts the big download, stop it and transfer via DVD or USB flash drive the gw.dat file. It is about 3.8GB and is all you need to move. This file contains most of the static data for the game.

To the poster above this post: My other computer broke down, which is why I stopped playing for a while
