Returning Player,Question

Hello all

I have played GW back in 2007 and then left.
I just regained interest in GW and restarted fresh with a new character.
I have both Prophecies and faction.
My question is as follow:

do I need to create a different character for Faction,or can I take my current character from Prophecies and when done there move to faction.

No need to create a whole new character - once your character gets to Lion's arch, you will be able to do a quest called "Mhenlo's Request" which will let you take your character over to Cantha (Factions).

When your at Cantha, you'll be able to pick up the main quest from the initial city area (just follow the prompts from "Mhenlo's Request), the only part you won't be able to do is the "quest's" on the starter island (Shing Jea) - you'll still be able to do the 3 mission's on Shing Jea Island however.

If you want to be able to do the newbie/starter quest's in Cantha (Factions), you'd have to start a new character there, but otherwise you can do all of Factions with a Prophecies character.

Yes, you can take your current character over to cantha by doing an easy quest given by the skills NPC in Lion's Arch called Mhenlo's Request.

^Neo said it, easy quest picked up from Firstwatch Sergio in LA, then you run outside LA, talk to Menlho, then run back in and talk to a lady near the docks and she will take you to Cantha.
