You cant change it yourself but you can do one of these two suggestions.

Go to options In Guild Wars:
Turn Music volume down to nothing.
Minimize GW. Turn on Windows Media Player/WInamp/Itunes or whatever music program you like and run it in the background.
Maximize Gw.
You have your own music playing instead of what comes with the game.

Second suggestion.
Buy the music pack form Directsong to add more music for GW.

Bear in mind that the musicpack contains more music of exactly the same type as is already in the game. An in-game mp3 player would be nice..

...or just do what was said above and run Winamp in the background. That's what I do.

When using Winamp, there is no control for area specific music. It just plays tracks from start to end, no matter where you are in game.

I hope Anet will bring full control for players what in-game music or custom music will be played in different areas or fix the boring two track never ending loop in every town or outpost. I expected more music with Battle Pak1 but it is actually worser. Some music without Battle Pak 1 is gone forever. I never hear them.

It seems so. Lets make it simple. When you are in Ascalon, how you can define what playlist Winamp plays? When you exit from Ascalon and go to Lion's Arch, how you tell Winamp to change playlist? Maybe you can do it manually but it would be lame to press certain buttons on keyboard everytime you switch area.

I want area-specific tracks which will be *only* played in certain areas.

I do run iTunes in the background sometimes, but after a while the music gets screwed up because I'm playing GW with it. It gets... well staticy is the best way to describe it.
