My calendar reminds me that I don’t have that long here at home before I’m off again. I’ll be at PAX (the Penny Arcade Expo) this year, helping ArenaNet stalwarts Jeff Grubb and Will McDermott push my upcoming Guild Wars/Guild Wars 2 novel, Fall of Ascalon. Other than my schedule below, I’m free, so expect to see me running around, catching up with friends, and enjoying the show. It’s been 20 years since I’ve been to Seattle. In 1989, my brother and two other guys from Ann Arbor drove straight through the night to make it to the NCAA Final Four and watch Michigan take it’s one and only basketball championship ever—in double overtime. Now I can’t wait to get back. If you’re there too, be sure to grab me and say hi. Friday, September 4 11:30 – 12:00 Fall of Ascalon / Matt Forbeck Q&A Staff: Matt Forbeck, Will Mc Dermott, Jeff Grubb 2:30 – 3:00 Fall of Ascalon / Matt Forbeck Q&A Staff: Matt Forbeck, Will Mc Dermott, Jeff Grubb Saturday, September 5 1:30 – 2:00 Fall of Ascalon / Matt Forbeck Q&A Staff: Matt Forbeck, Will Mc Dermott, Jeff Grubb 8:00 – 9:00+ Community/Player Meet & Greet (offsite venue! Interesting, I remember finding his blog earlier this year and searching for GW2 news on it. I'm definitely interested in the book, I hope it's going to be a good read. Should help relieve some of my desperation for more info about GW/GW2

ooo, nice GW book

The book looks awesome! I've been waiting ages, now we can finally get some news on it!

Novels, art books, Anet really started spilling the beans!

So this is a nice spoil about what we are going to know during the PAX days.
I'm so interested in books of GW lore too...but I don't think they will translate them in Italian.
So i will buy them from America or Uk

I wonder when ANet will reveal to us their PAX plans. I guess the most likely time is either tomorrow or next Thursday, as those are their news days.

Hot off the world premiere of the teaser trailer in Cologne, Guild Wars 2 will be attending PAX in force. An exciting draw at the booth will be the giveaway of The Art of Guild Wars 2 - a hardbound book packed with 128 pages of eye candy by Guild War 2's award-winning artists providing fans with a glimpse into the world of Guild Wars 2. Artists will be on site signing the book throughout the show. In addition, we're hosting talks covering the upcoming novel The Fall of Ascalon and Q&A sessions with the Guild Wars Live Team in the booth (#842). Visit the Guild Wars Web site for additional information. |

If they put an emote giveaway in the book, like they are doing for the Aion Collector's edition, I know at least a few people that would buy more than 1 copy each.

I want a reading emote and then a shocked face once read.
or they read what will happen to them and decide to try and stop it, thus causing it to happen my hero decides suicide and no res is more suitable.

Have they announced a release date for the book yet? If not, maybe they'll announce at PAX.

Simon&Schuster once listed it as February 23rd 2010 on their website.
Later they redacted this piece of information.
The author turned it in for release some while ago, so basically all it needs is the green light from the person in charge of determining when the right moment is.

amazon.com has a date of April 27, 2010 for an untitled book by Matt Forbeck. This was the #1 result of a search for Fall of Ascalon.
http://www.amazon.com/Untitled-Matt-...1467495&sr=8-1
This would be the 5th birthday of GW.

Probably true, but I think that it's quite unlikely that Amazon happened to pick that particular date. Seems to me that it would have more likely come from Anet...
I don't know if that tells us anything, but I find it interesting.

Thanks for the info, Inde!
This guy has an impressive list of credentials but I was unable to find where he got his inspiration from for the novel. I was curious if he'd actually played the game? No matter, I'll be getting it whenever it goes on sale.
Meh, he still chooses to reside in Wisconsin though...
