I've recently personalized the lay out of my screen. One of the things i did was put the energy and health bars on top of each other, and made them wider. Now, when i activate a skill the Skill Tip that pops up is blocking the view to my health. If I could adjust the height at which the skill popup would show up, I could use my new interface AND look at the skill tips.

minor feature, it will help me a great deal though

I personally never thought about that either good or bad.

You can turn off skill tips completely in options if that helps any.

I know what most skills basically do so I almost never have to read them unless it has been updated or I'm coming up with a new build.

So when I'm actually activating the skill i know what it will do, so having the tooltip not even pop up while using the skills works for me.

I also have the health and Energy bar on each other and widened.

I hope that helped if you didn't know you could hide it completely, and who knows maybe that option will be in gw2

Better off asking for that in GW2 because odds are it's easier to implement this in that game instead of GW1.

yeah i knew that, but my point is that sometimes i forget how much energy a skill has or how long it will take to recharge....

Skill tips should be movable since right now they're blocking my HP/MP bars.

I believe you're breaking the rules and making up something you don't know.

Doesn't take much to know what skills you're using. /notsigned.

Just move your HP and EN bars further up.

the whole point of this topic is about me NOT wanting to hide the skill tips.....

Tried that, but I didn't like the location

I also tried moving them up, but it didn't turn out so well. I don't understand how people can be against a fix.

Ok, so you don't like the location. Yet you still want to move the tips and have HP & EN stay. Fine. But now....where do you put the tips? The same place where you could put your bars?

I myself was thinking right next to the skillbar, and making them appear in the same location, not above your skill.

I like this idea. Who knows how hard it would be to implement, but I would definitely go for this.

/signed, I have my skillbar set up the same way, so I just turned off the skill tips. But I would love for this to be implemented.

And I can't believe that people are /notsign-ing an optional change.

Has nothing to do with it. You're both being misled.

I'm just gonna run-down since I'm /signed on this with the same problem.

I 600/smite a lot. The first 5 or so skills on my bar, I press the corresponding numbers for because they're right above WASD and thus in my immediate reach. 6 through 8, however, are not, so pending situationally (ie/ if I'm pulling aggro or standing and tanking), I alternate between using either the mouse to click, or the corresponding number keys.

The problem arises when, as 600 is a very energy-intensive build (especially without Essence Bond), I'm trying to maintain a careful watch on my energy while also being prepared to cast my next chain (which I have placed on 5, 6, 7, and 8). Obviously, the skill tip veils my energy meter thus making for a giant headache.
(inb4: simple solution, mouse off look at energy then mouse on hurrr durrrrrr)

Given I don't necessarily need them for 600ing, I know the build back and forth, but when the change is account-wide and not character-specific, one would be required to turn them off and on repeatedly when working with new builds and new classes.

It's just a general nuisance.

When so many aspects of the user interface are customizable, why should we be limited to directly above the skill bar for where our skill tips are displayed?

Ok, then do not hide them. Were's the problem? You don't need to read them during battle. Even if you just have received skills during an event. You have plenty of time to read them before the match starts.

um I 600/smited in my past and had no problem with seeing number of en points. but that's besides the point.

i have the same en/hp bar layout as you (I believe) energy bar on top of hp bar and stretching all the way across the skill bar? with thsi layout, the 5th skill is the only one that actually hides the number of energy you have left. since you use the corresponding key for 5, why isit hard to see?

sorry if i misunderstood but ti seems like a pointless use of ANET time.

/signed for having the option to put them where ever you want, all the rest can be customised why not skill tips ... i have them turned off so they dont mess with my setup, but its indeed a bit of a hassle when i switched to a deck i dont know, or when i reoutfitted a hero and moderating his performance (as i cant check the tips of the hero skills either when switched off) ... so setting a place where they dont mess up my interface, all for it
