My Thoughts About taking Heros out of gvg/ha
sup bruh its sam
My thoughts:
Personally i think this is just a waste. Every time i gvg its always either Bloodspam or 28 min of Mind Blast eles running around. And HA is basically only R/As. Smiteway was popular when people ran LC and Weaken knees and hexes, but with those nerfes people dont run hexes, thus making people stop running smiteway with heros. There are so many more aspects to the game that needs more improvement that this is just kinda of a joke. Some examples are: Skill balanced, Tie breaker GvG, Hero Battles, Chance ( lucky 40/40s are a key win/lose factor in high end GvG.) And TBH not many groups run norgu/gwen/odgen tease build/roj or whatever since palm strike /weapon spells nerf, and even then it wasnt very hard to beat. Also since everyone can vote for the henchman bars, what is probably going to happen is your going to get very PvE-oriented noobish bars.
So to some it up taking heros out of gvg will make it longer and harder to find the people to form. I/most of the high end GvG community doesnt take this game seriously since all the nerfs/ there are no more real life money rewards (like in the $100,000 seasons) But im just venting over a game that lost most of its real potential when Nightfall came out. Any Pvers are free to argue and flame my thoughts by saying that this game still alive because you have many korean bots sitting in kamadan and you able to kill other terribad players in Random Areas( and btw there were weekly updates, not this every month of worthless skill balancing or them buffing 50 elite causing this game to be more imbalanced.) And any GvGers that still play this game are free to agree and state their opinions.

You rarely ever come across heroes in gvg so it's barely gonna make a difference to games taking longer to form up etc.
HA is a joke anyway so what's the difference? Although i will be very glad to never face norgu tease again.

Well considering we're designing these bars, we could make tease heroes

And if anet chooses to implement them so may they burn in hell.

You are here, complaining about them removing heroes. They are offering a compensation to that for more balanced AI, Henchmen. This quote is completely the opposite of what you are complaining about... Hypocrisy.

I remember when I GvG'd there was a team that mainly consist of hero monks with at least one warrior. The hero monks spammed RoJ like no tomorrow. It was like one RoJ after the other, and let me tell you, they hurt. Especially when getting hit by two of them. This was before RoJ scatter nerf, by the way, in case anyone was wondering. Needless to day this change will eliminate that team way, at least as far as having only few players with mainly heroes is concerned.
I do realize this won't change team builds like RoJ or anything that was popular while we had the heroes. It will just make it so you'd have to have human players to pull it off now. This kind of makes the change not very impacting at all, though I could be wrong, and very wrong. Still, that what I have said is through my experience and observation.
For the record, I don't have a problem with this change. This is interesting and I am wondering how things in the GvG and HA battles will be like now w/o the heroes. Instead there are the popular chosen hench builds for anyone who still wants to practically go solo.* Who knows if the matches will be played more than before, or if this change will balance it out sufficiently? Like they say, time will tell.
*(I am full aware that in GvG there has to be at least 4 guildies in your party to make a fight. That was just a figure of speech.)

It will simple force more people out of gvg and ha! So it will be counterproductive to what they wanna achieve.
I don't believe in the usefullness of fixed hench, any team using those already will have a handicap towards the opposing team!

Heroway is no imba in gvg anymore so they are a bit late with it, tho it is a problem in HA. The biggest problem in GvG is the necrospam bullshit. But they will never nerf it because Linsey took over skill balancing (amiright?) and she does not really care about gvg.

I'd like to add that we know none of the goals really.
Does Anet want to win PvP players back? Do they want to interest people in PvP who used to ignore it? Do they attempt to sell more copies to new customers who are exposed to GW due to the GW2 trailer?
Usually you would think that when Anet has all eyes on their GW2 product, then they would also make a push for it such as "now is the time to play GW1 until 2 is out". Who knows what the goal is currently. All we do know is ArenaNet scheduling being a bit too optimistic during the last two years and the community being a bit too nervous about delays.

Kicking heros from GvG throws my guild out from there too.. 4-6 players less playing gvg soon.

They should remove all henchmen and heroes from pvp.

My response saying barely anyone using heroes was a response to the OP saying it will cause longer form up times, ie barely anyone uses them anyway so it will have no effect (to ladder).
I even stated i would gladly never face a norgu tease again, thought that would be a clue.
Also to those who say they will never gvg again without heroes, please. So many pve guilds are disheartened by GvG when they run a full team of 8 players and get rolled by these heroways, if you ask me the teams actually trying to get into pvp are these pve guilds. Not the heroways.
This will greatly benefit the enjoyment of GvG for those off the ladder breaking into the game, which hopefully increases slightly the number of those playing.

So being a PvE player is being a noob player ???
Smells like a ego problem to me.
keli
being an exclusively pve player = do not really understand pvp because he does not play it = being noob in pvp so that highlighted sentence is true

don't see how they're going to come up with an adequate lineup of henchmen that would be useful in any way with their particular approach. bigger pool of ideas, sure, but 20 hench? meh...
Nimble Night
I agree with everything in the OP besides 'chance'. Seriously the only time you can say a game was decided by HCT, would be on 'aegis' or possibly 'ward against melee', both of which have been nerfed and are now unusable.
But yes game balance is in a very dire state right now.

Being able to choose from an assortment of 10 professions with one henchman per profession isn't going to allow team synergy anyway. You can't build a spike team, you can't build a physical team, you can't build a defensive team, because there is only one of each profession available.
With henchmen you can't even set a seperate flag or lock an interupter or punisher onto a specific target.
Hopefully the bars they put on the henchmen are going to offer very generalized support within each class.
To me this seems like a very bad step; inferior to taking AI out of PvP entirely. I understand that small guilds will sometimes toss in AI because they can't come up with enough players to hit the Begin Battle button otherwise, but Henching is not going to make their experiences any more fun.

HA and GvG are the high end pvps that this game has to offer. We should think about the concerns of players who have complaint against heroes then see if replacing them with henchmen would address those complaints or not.
Do we need to replace heroes with suckier automatons when most guilds who use heroes against a full human team already lose most of the time? How would the henchmen make the game better?
I think it is just a farce for ANet to make themselves look good by pretending to address our concerns without actually understanding them. Replacing heroes with henchmen is the same thing, only difference is, you make the new pvp guild, with not enough human players, to have a higher chance of losing than before. That sounds exciting...the guild who is just starting out to GvG would lose more often and be even more discouraged. Thank you ANet.

PATCH EXPLANATION: You now go in with 8 humans or you lose.

If those new henchies will be actually good, what I doubt highly, gives to guilds like mine chance to continue playing GvG. What henchies do is they lower build synergy and make harder to try new builds. It also lowers the amount of builds that are playable.
If new henchies are bad, which is my guess, they pretty much remove chance to run any decent build for small guilds like mine.

( This mainly adresses the PvE guild that try to gvg) so now instead of losing to heroway, your going to lose to people, but take longer to get matches.
