GPU Problem
deadman_haoyi
When i m running gw or other games like wc3, every few mins the gpu will just crash and recover. After the screen goes black for a sec, a message will pop up on the toolbar saying "the display driver stopped responding and has recovered".
My card is PALIT x285 2gb.
Anyone knows the problem?

Installing the latest Forceware drivers at nvidia.com will probably fix your problem:

You'll have to give a bit of extra information.
What OS do you run?
Is there any extra information in the error message?

Is the cooling fan running on the card?

post your system temps, idle and while gaming please. (everest ultimate trial version works great for that and is a free download from their site)
Also, when installing new drivers it's good to use a driver sweeper (in safe mode) before installing the new drivers. I use the one from www.guru3d.com and it works pretty well (instructions included at the site).

If it is the nvlddmkm error then the fix i used that might work is to completely uninstall all your graphics drivers using driver cleaner or whatever the programs called, search for any files called nvlddmkm and delete them then install the latest graphics driver. I used to get that problem all the time but when i did that fixed it.

i tried uninstalling and installing the latest driver which is 190.62 . But the problem still occurs.
The error message is "Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has recovered."
i am running on vista 64 bits.

did you use a driver sweeper in safe mode? did you search for and delete any files named nvlddkm as Burton said? With graphics drivers it's really important to use a driver sweeper to avoid leftover bits that cause problems (like you are having)...
deadman_haoyi
i tried doing it again. I did use driver sweeper in safe mode, and delete all nvlddmkm files.
Doesnt seem to solve the problem...

Could very well be heat problems or lack of PSU power when GPU is using over 50% load.
Could you please list PSU model and watts
cpu
mobo
ram
Did you just get this card? Have you had the card for a while and just now it's starting to do this?
Could you please download this program,LOG to file in the sensor TAB, continue refresh while GPU-z is in the background, run your games till you get the error and post the log file here for us.

One last thing, try right clicking your desktop, go to the nvidia control panel and disable Physx, then try playing your game and see if it crashes still.
