Fire damage Bow?
Mystery323x
If I put a fire damage mod on my bow, will there be any disadvantage from it being fire over it being peircing?
MagmaRed
Yes and no. Some skills work better with certain types of damage. So if you had a Necro on the team that used Barbs, you would want Piercing Damage since it is physical. The Fire Damage would not allow your attacks to trigger the Barbs damage. Likewise, skills like Conjure Flame will not work with a Piercing Damage bow. You could use a skill like Kindle Arrows to use Conjure Flame, but the Fiery damage allows you to use Conjure with no other skills.
And those are not the full list of options, there are plenty of uses for Fiery or Piercing Damage. And various armors have resistances to the different types of damage. Bonelace will give Necro extra armor against Piercing Damage for example, and there are more for Sin, Ranger, Ele, etc.

I plan on using Fiery Damage with Conjure flames. I could always keep another bow on hand. Tho prices for weapons seem to be up since I played last year.
Thanks for the Info

Well you don't really need to pay for bows.
There are the treasure chests from Nightfall they often provide gold bows.
Plenty of collectors around that give bows or you could just beat up ranger bosses repeatedly.
Of course if you have plenty money then buying is the fastest.

I never got far in Nightfall or Factions. I had a few 20s back in Phrophicies launch. Ill have to look into that

If you ignore all skills and upgrades/runes that affect the difference between elemental damage and physical damage, the base change from elemental mods is that you will do more damage to warriors but less damage to rangers.

Right now im only level 6 and im hitting for around 30-40 normal and 60-70 crit. I have 10 Marksman (With the Plus 3 Marksman Rune - 75 health and other things so that 75 doesnt make my health for too low) I just picked Elementalist for my second class but didnt try out fiery damage and Conjure flame

With Fiery Damage bow, Conjure flames and using Power Shot I hit for 90-100 crit.

The damage you do is based on several things. Your level against the enemies level, the enemies armor rating, the weapon's damage, the weapon's requirement and your attribute for it, etc. all factor into damage. If you are doing that kind of damage to a level 6-8 enemy, I'd be surprised.
At level 6 you will have 25 attribute points (unless you have managed to complete the attribute point quests). To have 10 in Marksmanship you would nee to have 6+1+3, and 6 requires 21 attribute points, leaving you with only 4 left for another attribute. This would give you 2+rune for Expertise (which I hope you are using), but even that low of an investment won't help much.

To do that kind of damage, you must be attacking low level enemies. Having a Superior Rune at a low level is also a bad idea, as you will have less health until you reach level 20, and thus lowering it isn't a good idea. At level 6, you will have 100+6(20) = 220 health, and -75 drops it to 145. Survivor and Vitae, along with a Fortitude Bow Grip can help offset that, but it is still risky. I use Superior Runes in PvE, but not until I am level 20 with max armor and health.

Tommorow morning I am going to re do my runes to take out the -75 health. I was currently using Plus 3 Markman - 75 health, +1 marksman (Head Piece), and +1 expertise. At the moment I have 290 health, but I am level 8.
Tommorow I will take out the -75 health.

Most ranger enemies have more armor vs elements. Conversely most assassin enemies have more armor vs piercing. Enemies in PvE that look like they are made from fire (destroyers and titans) typically have higher armor vs fire as well.

This is why I carry around 8 bows all the time.
I have a general build based around hard hitting ranger attacks then change my secondary class for specific areas.
Sometimes I use Conjure element but not often.
Depending on what games you have you might want to look into using Assassin Ritualist and dervish skills to boost damage.
