Bring back pre-made builds

I remember back when a player created a PvP only character they were given a list of builds they could choose to play. I thought this was great as it gave players 8 skills automatically that they could bring with them to any PvP format.

My idea:

Give Toluus, Zaishen Adherent (in RA outpost) another function. Let him supply pre-made build templates for several different classes. Each class would have 2-3 (enough?) templates with a description on how the build works and how the player should use it.

Players wouldn't need to unlock skills to use these builds as they would be temporarily unlocked for use, but when a player leaves RA, the skills are locked again (unless the player unlocks them). Toluus would need a green exclamation point in order to gain attention. Along with a chat bubble that would say "Please speak to me if you're new to the Random Arenas." (something along those lines.)

This could also open up an idea for another contest involving pre-made builds. I only make this suggestion because I see a lot of builds in RA
that just don't work. I also want RA to be a much more enjoyable experience. Of course having a pre-made build wouldn't be a requirement in RA, it just help players out when it comes to PvP builds.

Good or Bad idea?

I like the idea, but it wouldn't help.

This may help the few people who havent found PvX wiki yet, but still the underlying problem remains that people don't understand why the bar is good, why you use patient spirit over Orison of Healing, why healing breeze is not a good skill etc. There is no way to fix that except for people to stop being stupid.

And the fact that many people think that if there build is orginal, it is good and everyone else is a wiki nub. So the pre-made builds probably won't have as much of an affect as you'd like.

Still /signed, because even helping a few people is worth it.

There were no Premade builds for Dervish or Paragon (and I don't think Assassin or Ritualist). Most of the builds were removed because they simply weren't good anymore. After all the new skills added with Factions, Nightfall, and Eye of the North, the original builds weren't as good as they once were. Plus, some of the skills had been changed, and thus became less usable for those builds.

Problem is finding builds that work, and that won't have major problems with a skill balance. In PvE the beginning area of each game roughly teaches the player how to make a build. That doesn't mean they learn how to make a GOOD build, but I'd rather see people learn how to make a build than to use one already made. PvX already ruins the ability for people to learn how to make effective builds, I'm not sure this would be a good step.

And even if the builds were good, and changed with each skill balance that altered the build, I'd still bet people wouldn't know HOW to use it. Sadly, people just aren't learning how to make and use builds.... and a premade build won't help solve that.

You have totally misunderstood Sealed Deck. You get a random amount of skills to work with and you have to make the best build you can out of it. So thats going to be even more difficult for new people who can't abuse the newest gimmick.

Shitty players will still be shitty if they're getting premade builds.

Agree with this. Bad players, even with good builds, will suck. If PvP was as easy as loading a good bar, it would suck and no one would play. Premade bars discourage people learning about why stuff is good and why other stuff isn't.

And it also encourage 123..5 behavior without even knowing why pressing 123...5 just made them kill something ... if these Pre-bars were OP every one would be using them, if they weren't OP then people start to wonder why they are there, if they dont win with them..

Just read up on wiki or at the campfire here what supposedly makes a good build; then try, try, try and if you ain't dieing you aint trying... untill you get it right ...

Is not so bad an idea, as long as the NPC warns about those builds being just and starting point, a hit to start from, and advise players to learn and try new stuff.

Well the problem is... PvP in GW has always been FotM v FotM, more than PvP. Good skillbars become useless, useless skills become good. They'd have to change the pre-made whenever a FotM is depreciated. Anyone remember the original pre-made builds (hail to the paladins!)? Some of them were laughable. There are a few builds around that didn't change in a very very long time but that's generally not the kind of build you'd like to have offered to every new players (touchers anyone?).

So since I really doubt ANET would update these pre-made builds on a regular basis, I vote no.

I don't mind the idea of having a skill window handy which shows open ideas and suggestions in game. It will probably help others who don't know where to look for help online.
