Hey, I'm pretty new to the game and now starting on nightfall, I am a warrior. I have no idea on a good hero build to get and need help on the skills, I have been on PVX but a lot of the skills for 'discord' are in EOTN which I haven't gone through yet. Could anyone advice the best hero build there is out there and what skills I should actually use. So far, the heroes I have unlocked are Ogden, Olias, Zhed Shadowhoof, Vekk, Koss, Dunkoro, Acolyte Sousuke, Masters of Whispers. - So unsure who to choose.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

If you plan to play through the Nightfall story line, then you don't have much choice about which heroes to choose. Dunkoro, Koss, Zhed, and Master of Whispers are all going to be required for certain missions, so they all need to made ready. Also Tahlkora and Melonni.

Unless you've bought the skill unlock packs from the ncsoft store, or have unlocked a lot of skills with Balthazar faction, then it's going to take you a while to accumulate the skills (especially the elite skills) needed to make really top-notch builds. And don't be thinking in terms of some single Best build for each hero. Builds are chosen for the circumstances. What skills are needed to make a particular quest or mission easier? What hero builds will best complement your build and the builds of the other heroes in the party?

There is a learning curve to all this, and the worst thing you can do is think you're going to go to PvX, grab the "best" build, slap it on your hero, and be done with it.

Yes I agree with the above poster.
If your a new player, the whole point of learning this game is to try your own stuff and get the feel for the game and your own profession, rather than grabbing some rubbish off of PvX which just topples the game over without you having to actually do anything.

Be original when you play with heroes, you wont have anyone to whinge their behinds into next week off at you when you decide that your hero WILL be taking the skills YOU want.

Honestly if this is your first playthru, dont use any build anyone gives you and Experiment!!!! you'll get bored alot faster with sumone telling you what to do, then figuring out how to do it yourself. be fun, be creative and HAVE FUN!

Just to make it clear, I am NOT down on PvX. But, you can't start at the top. Acquiring skills for your heroes and working on their builds will teach you about the skills of those professions.

That knowledge is useful in several ways.

First, it helps you to recognize what foes of those professions are doing to you and to learn to respond properly, whether that response is using one of your own skills or adding the proper countermeasure to one of your heroes.

Second, it gives you appreciation for the problems of other professions. A warrior often doesn't realize that the needs of casters are different, and vice versa. For example, a warrior will often want to race from battle to battle at breakneck speed to keep adrenalin from draining away, while a caster needs time to recharge. A happy medium is necessary to prevent a disaster for the team. This type of understanding will be very important when you play with other people.

Third, you will learn to understand skills of other professions that can complement your own primary profession. This knowledge will be important when you reach the point of being able to change secondaries. You will be better able to pick the right secondary and right skills for a given quest or mission. That will make you a more flexible and accomplished player in the long run.
