on my first char, I had to do quests forever and ever, till it gave me the option to transfer to factions, is there an easier way to get there by low level?

i would say the fastest way is to make a factions char but other then that the above will do

Get the ferries, otherwise, you can try to do JUST the primary quest chain--it speeds up a little after level 5, but you're still doing three missions and all the primaries.
I've never done a ferry to cantha, just the docks, but it appears to be a common enough technique.
