Reversing a System Restore?

Quick question for you technicians out there:

Is there any way to reverse a system restore? One of my computers was unfortunately restored all the way back to the factory settings, and I seem to have lost a lot of files, pictures, etc.

The OS is Windows XP, computer is about 2 years old, nothing on it is particularly "custom" as it's used by most of our family. That's about all I can tell you without looking up all the specs - I just wondered if there was an easy way to reverse this restore.

If you haven't done another restore after that one, there should be an undo last restore thing you can click on. On a side note, you shouldn't have lost any personal files. System restore only changes system files and shouldn't have deleted/changed any documents, pics, ect.

If you use a program to manage your files (I.E. itunes) then your files should still be there, but you'll have to re-add them to the program in question (I.E. itunes).

Well, apparently it wasn't the normal type of system restore, it was one that practically wipes the entire computer so that is essentially like the day you bought it.

However, we got the problem solved - under the different users (Administrator, etc.), there was "HP Administrator" and "Administrator". The "HP Administrator" was created when the system was restored, but the "Administrator" user still somehow contained all of the files and stuff that were on the harddrive before the restore.

All we had to do was allow the "HP Administrator" to view the files that were in "Administrator", then restart the computer.

Anyway, I don't know a whole lot about this type of stuff, and maybe this was the same type of restore you are talking about, but at least it is resolved now. Thanks for your help.
