by equipping an unid'ed shield and testing under different conditions you can find out if it gives you extra hp always, while enchanted, in a stance or while hexed. this is what i assume anyone selling an unid'ed shield has already done.
i haven't actually tried to test unid'ed shields for dmg reduction because the way i see it, the dmg you take with or without the shield is never constant anyway, so equipping an unid'ed shield to see if it MAY have a dmg reduction mod seems impossibly complicated to me. perhaps there is an easier way to tell, someone care to enlighten me?
so, having assumed the seller has tested the shield for +hp and is still selling it, that means it either:
a) has extra health under a certain condition but nothing really spectacular, which means that's 1 crappy-ish mod of a possible 2.
b) there is no +hp on the shield.
for case b, it gets interesting because there are so many other possibilities for this shield yet. the most desirable (in my view) would be dual dmg reduction but of course, you could end up with armor +4 vs tengu/plants/trolls/bad breath.
so! after all that, i would like to gamble 10k on this shield.
