A new Use for Skill points

Here is an idea I came up with one day when I glanced at my skill points.
My idea is ArenaNet adds a New option for buying basic skills, The idea is make it where you can spend like 10-20+ skill points and get a skill without paying gold. I believe if you do this skill points would be more useful instead of just piling up and wondering whats the point of these if we don't really use them? But a major draw back would be some damage to a gold sink but it could be made where cap sigs are a must use gold to get skill. It would also have some potential in damaging the tome market.

But if anyone has any thoughts and ideas on this idea or subject I would like to hear them.

I see you're new here (welcome BTW), so I won't do the whole routine, but basically in Sardelac you're supposed to do search and see if the idea has been mentioned before - if so, if you have something to add, just do it there.

For the record, /signed for more skill point uses that aren't consumables.

It is only 1k gold max. Not really a gold sink..../unsigned. Don't need an update like this and stop trying to ruin the tome market. Gosh they are one of the few stable things left in the gw's economy.

Ya it is only 1k but when you're trying to get the Skill Hunter title track those 1k cap sigs end up costing a lot of money when the title should be more skill based than gold based. I would be fine if they made it 20 skill points for one skill. I have like 650 unused.

normal tomes would become useless since you can get a lot of experience with a character and easly fill up skillpoints

I have alot of unused skill points.

But you already use them on special items.
I'm going for skill hunter and ~250 skill points is alright if I make the 1k per boss income

Well with an easy 1000 unused skill points it would be nice to have something besides consumables to use them on, don't need new skills very often... and consumables are kind of a joke if you are not running speedclears, or any other farm run. It would be nice to be able to do something productive with them...

my character has +/-430 points, altho i like where your goin with this, but with most characters, you already have the skills you'll use(which unforunate*hint* anet change old skills*hint*) but we could DEF use sumthing for these skills points besides a record of what lvl you would be LOL.

yea i'm sorry i dont like this idea as i already have something that ate up alot of my skill points and that is making consets perfect salv kits, and several other nice items that i enjoy using.

i dont think we need anything else to spend on skill points on. sorryz.

unless you want to be able to "unlock" skills on your account with say 20-25 skill points and 30-40 for elites. that is an idea i would back.

There is nothing worthwhile spending skill points on now other than Perfect salvage kits, so good players (those that don't need consets for every area) can spend them on something. Since we have tomes, I don't think more points = less cash for every skill is a good idea. Perhaps this should only work for non elites.

@OP, next time it would be a good idea to read stickies before posting, especially ones with big capital letters that say 'READ FIRST'.

Something I can use the skill points on my PvP Only characters would be nice. They're rackin up like the birthday presents.

absolutely love that idea! I play pve most of the time, and when I go to play pvp, people always ask if I have a certain build. being able to just take a char that's gotten hundreds of seemingly useless skill points and changing them into something I'm actually going to use is a nice idea. it allows for the tome market to stay stable since your unlocking it for the account, yet it makes it so skill points have a use.
