Double Lightbringer and Sunspear Weekend
makosi
Lots of my chars need SS grind to improve their skills.
I'll be doing the Gate of Desolation undead farm I think. 500 points per 4 min run which is 1k this weekend.

Hollow Gein
Sweet!! Now i'll be able to finish my LB title.

Need both for my 2nd char toward another GWAMM but still not going to be burning the midnight oil this weekend...plenty of time for it to come around again as a weekend event.

I'm having trouble figuring out what it is you think I meant.
I also can't wait to read your misinterpretation of this new post.

Well, looks like there might be people at Remains this weekend. My necro has both quests but does the wurm runs H/H as the place is always empty. Regretfully, I will be vanquishing with a friend instead, but everyone have fun leveling those pets.

Bad weekend events are similarly inefficient. There is therefore no excuse for bad weekend events. SS/LB should happen twice a year at MOST. Once would be better. |

Zz if I didn't max this years ago it would be fun, too bad.
WTB more PvP events, those never bore me ^^

Bit late for me.

I'll probably get my Ritualist to R9 for her Vampirism spirit (currently R7) but I have no other desires to farm for any of my other characters.

As expected my (new-ish) Monk just reached R10 SS without EVER farming for the title - thanks to the bonus weekend, got an awesome 12K SS points from only 2 Vanquishes today (Lahtenda Bog and Dejarin Estate). This character just played through content (NM and HM missions), vanquished all areas in Kourna and half of Istan - never repeated any area.
Now to work on Vabbi and Desolation vanquishes, will probably max out LB too without farming for it... And kind of same rate going for EoTN titles, I really don't get why people say this game has so much grind when it does not.

I approve of the above, well atleast mainly since the big update
Cant decide whether its important to use my other characters and get SS/LB or go on the other route of gaining HB title....tricky

finished up the last pesky 4k on my monk for lb.....will probably get another rank for my rit and mesmer.....we'll see how it goes. Wurm runs get boring, so have been killing the morganites outside of mouth of torment.

My rit was still in Kamadan/island as of Wednesday, just hit Sahlahja last night and completed 2 quests. Ran a couple farms today, R8 sunspear R4 lightbringer now. Going for 9/5, doubt I'll do much more than that...

I always thought that this weekend was complete and utter crap.
Now I made a new Elonian guy and he just killed a few things and he's rank 6 and nothing is standing in the way of him progressing though the nooby island!
YAY!
Brilliant!

I have a question and done a search.
Is this the best way to farm SS?
Go north out of Remains of Sahlaja, get Undead bounty
then kill 5 groups or so untill you get To ritualist boss then kill him.
Then zone and do it over and over.
Or is there a faster way?

Actually, gate of desolation to sulf waste is much faster. Just did a run for >1k sunspear points in 5 minutes /age. Just be careful here, 1 group typically has 1-2 acolytes and 2-3 cavaliers, making it more difficult than from sahlahja...

Burning the money and bad weekend events both destroy utility. Each is inefficient. I simply choose the most obvious and visible example of how inefficient solutions are bad. If you can't see this, then I'm going to feel free to stop taking your posts seriously.
The vast majority of the player base doesn't want another SS/LB weekend three months after the last one. They are both easy titles to max for GWAMM and relatively few of the associated skills are useful. It's not like Cry of Pain is in every character build at the moment, or will be in the future.

I'll wait until I max SS/LB since I would rather beat Nightfall instead. I'll still do it when I'm bored with the missions though.
You're terrible at comparing things.

Are you aware of the context of the original comment? The post I responded to argued that there is no reason to complain about "free" bonuses from weekend events. But just because an event provides "free" stuff doesn't imply that it's the most desirable "free" program.
So I produce a simple example - if I could costlessly give you something you obviously want and don't, I'm destroying value. There's no difference between burning the money rather than giving it to you and the bad weekend event in economic terms. Burning the money is completely ridiculous - that's the point. So is arguing that the bad weekend event is fine. Both are inefficient and wasteful.
There's no difference in ANet's costs when selecting a weekend event; it's all automated now. So if people complain that the event is poor, it's because this is an identically destructive process. They could have given us something that we wanted, but chose not to. The degree of harm inflicted is different, but the process is the same.

For that matter, GWG does not constitute a majority of the player base and is also a small minority.
My bet would be that the majority of players really don't care either way.
Personally, as I just started a new character a week ago, and have gotten towards the end of NF on my main, this was perfectly timed for me. Sure, can't take advantage of hardmode farming, but I don't care about maxing titles much and at least I'll be making the most of the quests and stuff that I have to do anyway.

The only reason I am even slightly interested in maxing SS/LB is because most of my characters use skills from those title tracks. So I squealed with joy for this double weekend. Now all I need is another double kurz weekend and maybe I'll be able to finally max that crappy title.

I can't believe I'm throwing my two cents here, but not everyone has been playing for that long. I've only owned the game for 19 months, and I've only seriously played for the last 7 or so months due to a much-needed computer upgrade finally magically appearing at Christmas. These weekends are a freaking blessing for me as I'm still trying to catch up with my friends.

The point is that two titles that require a dozen or so hours of gameplay to max (without double points) don't need an event every three or four months. I'd say that the favor overflow bug provides convincing evidence that a ton of players have already knocked out those titles. And it's not as though SS/LB confer huge in-game benefits compelling you to repeatedly max them (unless, perhaps, you are a hardcore DoA farmer).

Hypothesis: The many scores of people who came to farm at Remains of Sahlahja over the weekend probably did have an interest in maxing the SS and LB titles.

I haven't been on to observe personally, but "many scores" sounds like a reach based on observation from past events.
Again, I'm not saying that no one wanted this event. I'm saying that three months is too soon to repeat this event, that the majority of the population would have been much more excited about most alternatives, and that this is wasteful.
Windf0rce
You'd need to check Nightfall activity as a whole to measure popularity of this event.
Not everyone maxes their titles at Remains of Sahlaja... in fact if you have further plans on maxing titles, the optimal thing to do is to actually Vanquish areas for maximum title synergy and minimum time invested.
I myself spent the whole weekend on Nightfall, vanquishing - and maxed both titles, so did a few other friends of mine. Did nothing on other continents.

This is an excellent point. I am skeptical about the number of title hounds remaining that need to both Vanquish Elona and max SS/LB, but you are correct that you cannot directly compare Sahlaja against the usual suspect outposts in EotN.

Well i have been playing for 4 years and never really bothered to max many of the titles I just always played for fun
but seriousley when you have finished all the campains there ain't much left to do.
So this weekend I did decide to max LB and also start the vanq title grind and sweets/booze/ etc.
I had a blast and went from 5 to max 8 Holy Lightbringer
Vanq 12 areas in Vabbi and the Desolation
made just over 50k in drops opened many HM chests id lots of goldies
also used lots of sweets and booze for fun.
and hit 15 titles for "People know me" finaly.
So thanks anet.

I too was happy to see this weekend (playing 4+ years)...as I have multiple characters and had only maxed lb on one---now a 2nd has maxed it and a 3rd is close.
I got bored of the wurms and did vanquishing instead--did 5 areas with my rit, broke every lockpick and got crappy grapes....but I went up to 7 in lb and made enough to buy more lockpicks to replace the ones I broke.
Had other things to do this weekend or I would have maxed lb on my rit.
better weekend than say triple dye drop or triple green (I get plenty of dye without a weekend, and on triple x drops I get NOTHING of whats supposedly been tripled).
