Please fix the armor!

Now I love the armor sets we have in game, but it's really limiting my PvE build sets when I have to buy a head piece for every different attribute I have so that I can sync up the runes with my armor.
I just think it would be a good idea to have an armor piece that switches its attribute to whatever the rune applied to it is. For example, a headpiece that switches from +1 fire magic to +1 water magic if I switch runes.
Of course the only this would allow for full flexibility is if you got your other rune back after applying a new one so that you don't have to buy a new rune every time.
I know that for people just starting the game and for people who don't spend their lives farming but like to experiment with different builds, it's much more difficult to test everything at its optimal level with the current armor system in place.
Comments, suggestions?

Perfect Salvage Kit
Eye of the North common armor (Blindfold, Mask of Mo Zing, Bandana, Crown, glasses).
It already exists. True, it is limited in availability, but so are heroes, weapon skins, armor skins, and skills. I wouldn't dislike this option, but I don't see it as something important, and may not be something Anet would want to do.
I also think this has been suggested, perhaps you could do a search and find more info about this.

The problem is that it's limited in availability. It's something that should be accessible to everyone.

Armor isn't broken.
Besides, A-net responded to the armor storage problem with equipment packs.

Would be nice if something along the lines of the PVP armor/equip window would be done for PVE in some way, but doubtful that will ever happen.

Common armor in Eye of the North is great, and allows flexibility in builds without lots of extra armor to be purchased. However, it is only available in one of the 4 game titles. It should be available to ANYONE who owns a copy of any of the Guild Wars games.
Heroes are a great part of the game that give more flexibility to playing without other people. Henchmen are nice, but often not able to handle what is needed with their armor, weapon, and skill selection. However, heroes are only available to people who own Nightfall and/or Eye of the North. This is not fair, and heroes should be available to anyone who owns Prophecies and/or Factions too.
Farming builds like Shadow Form and 600/Smite are great ways to play. However, I don't own Factions/Nightfall/Eye of the North to have access to skills I need to run those builds. This isn't fair, and all skills should be available to people who own any version of the game. I shouldn't need Nightfall to get Deadly Paradox, or Factions to get Spirit Bond, or Eye of the North to get Glyph of Swiftness (etc.).

As you can see, lots of possible arguments can be made. Limiting the common armor to Eye of the North will encourage people to buy that game. If they have things available in only one spot, it means people will want to buy that to get those things. I wouldn't mind having access to common armor from the crafters in other places, but it may not be in Anets best financial interests. It would also cost them money to have the crafters changed, and the CURRENTLY crafted armor to be modified. It may seem like a simple thing to change, but it doesn't happen with the flip of a switch.

It's easy for most to say "Go buy a perfect salvage kit and buy a headpiece from EoTN" but do you not consider that maybe some of want to have the Prophecies/Factions/Nightfall headpieces always visible? Buying a piece from EoTN makes that piece obsolete now and you don't even wear it, you wear something else that does not necessary match your set.

It is 7-8k to buy a head piece for all your attributes, assuming you pick up some of the cheaper armors (mat wise). Thats is simple for any player to get.
Hermos
Does it really cost that much to buy a headpiece or 1.5k armor?

Ok, I was thinking more along the lines of having to buy 4 headpieces of 15k kurzick armor for my warrior because let's be honest here, that armor is badass. And I love the helm. But I have to buy 5 of them just to be flexible.
And replying to the comment about storage space, that wasn't exactly what I meant. I was referring to the in game cost of having to buy several head pieces. Which if I want headpieces that match my armor, can get very very expensive if I'm wearing 15k armor and to be honest, it's just not possible for me to do that, and there are other players in the same boat.
I've never said anything was a simple fix, or it should only take x amount of time. I'm only asking for consideration that perhaps the current system could be improved upon to allow for an optimal experience for the casual gamer.

I'd rather just a system kinda like PvP equipment. You can add any equipment, runes, etc, that you already own; they then vanish and are unlocked for your character (or account?) and you use the same UI as PvP equipment creator. Except it's for your PvE character. All items are of course customized on creation, so if you want to add a rare skin to it, you're not going to be able to resell it (and unable to resell the original, since it's destroyed).

Just leave armor as it is. It works, and the only complaint available is from people who don't want to buy more games. Deal with the slight cost, storage issues, and/or buy the games needed to get what you want.

AN removed PvP only characters?!
