Thinking about buying....

Hi, I'm new on this forum and I was wondering... If i bought Guild Wars Nightfall could I play the classes from the previous two games? Also what is guild wars prophecies, I think it is an expansion but I don't see a link to a page on the official website. Should I start out by buying the original then Factions or what? Please help me, and thanks.

Prophecies is the original game.

Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall are all different campaigns of the game.

Eye of the north is an expansion.

If you just got nightfall you wouldn't be able to play an Assassin or Ritualist from factions.

On the profession thing:

There are 6 core professions that are available in all 3 campaigns: Elementalist, Mesmer, Monk, Necromancer, Ranger, and Warrior. In Factions, 2 extra professions, Assassin and Ritualist are available, and in Nightfall Paragon and Dervish. Note that regardless of which campaigns you own, you'll still only be able to make the profession in the campaign it came from (core professions can be made anywhere), but you'll still be able to travel to any other continent when you want.

Erm...something about that don't sound right.

With Nightfall, you will be able to make characters with the core professions and also the Nightfall professions (Dervish and Paragon). IF you own the other campaigns, your Nightfall characters will eventually be able to travel to those other continents/campaigns.

Prophecies is the original Guild Wars. The "Prophecies" part was added later and isn't always shown.
