Game Music?

Hello,

Is there anywhere you can download the music from the game?

Listened to the music when visiting a friend who plays, some of the music is pretty nice, but as I don't have the game yet I don't know if you can play it out of the game. Would like to be able to play it without playing game (mom might get upset if I had game open when supposed to be doing homework).

Thank you to you both. So only free version of the game music is the intro music on this site, otherwise have to pay for the music? And it can be played without the game running?

If you know what you are doing you can download the correct programs and rip it from the game. This could prove rather tricky, and I doubt A-Net would think highly of it, but they wouldn't be able find out.
You can play it without the game running (I don't see why not, unsure how DirectSound works though).
If you don't want to have your browser open to play the intro music you can rightclick and save as a Quicktime movie.

The Prophecies OST is only six or seven dollars, so it shouldn't put you out of too much money.

The music from Guild Wars is already downloaded to your PC: it's in your gw.dat file.

He doesn't have the game yet.

Probably your best bet would be directsong. My understanding is that it basically just downloads the CDs of the music to your computer. You can play them like any other .mp3 or .wav file.

The DirectSong music for Guild Wars is high quality than what is in the .dat file. It is only available in a copy protected wma format, but it is burnable to CD.
As for pulling the music from the .dat file, there use to be a program that allowed you do do that. If you have a creative sound card, you already have what is needed to pull the music from in game, but be aware that combat sounds will be there also.

My advice to you is if you want a clean high quality copy of the music; spend the money, buy the DirectSong music and enjoy it. Burn it to a CD at your leasure, you can always rip it to the format you want later.

The main page at direct song says that it's DRM free. I do remember having trouble with the EotN music being protected at it's release, but it looks like they've upgraded their music. I have re-downloaded the soundtrack to my new computer and copied it to my Blackberry with ease.

DirectSong is your best bet (Yes it's legal). If you don't want to pay for it you either go into the not so legal area, or you have the game open.
