Farming for Event Items (Vaettir A/Me HM)

So this has been talked about here:

And mentioned here:

But I couldn't find anything giving maps or detailed instructions, so here you go.
The Build
This is:
1. Deadly Paradox
2. Arcane Echo
3. Shadow form
4. Dark Escape
5. Channeling
6. Ether Nightmare
7. Cry of Pain
8. Viper's Defense
There are many detailed guides on SF, so I won't go into that part of the build. You can play around with this, it's pretty flexible for the area as long as you have SF and some aoe damage. Some people like to bring spirit of failure or radiation field, but I prefer not to. Spirit of failure is dependent on the enemy attacking you and when you've got 30 of them balled up and pinned it's really hard to tell which one is attacking and which one is attempting to scatter. Besides, with 30 enemies on you at a time, channeling should give you all the energy you need. Radiation is good for degen, but with ether nightmare and cry of pain you're pretty much maxed out on degen already. Vaettir's can't be diseased, so radiation does very little, if any, actual damage. Viper's Defense is a very good skill because it allows you to get out of body blocks without doing damage (they are immune to poison). This will make sure they don't scatter before you've pinned them. Dark escape is good for the run section, detailed below.
The Run
Start from Sifhalla, grab your bounty, and go north. At point A on the map there is a group of pinesouls that can trap you through SF to cripple you and make you bleed. To avoid this simply aggro them, pull them into a nice little group on one side, then run past on the other. As long as you stay out of close range they should just throw rocks at you instead of setting up their traps. You may think it's faster to go through the little break in the rock formation instead of going around, but there's another group of pinesouls in there and it's hard to get past without triggering a trap getting slapped with bleeding or crippling. If you want to use up sweet points to boost your speed and run over the traps, feel free, but I prefer just to go around. (I tend to swear at my computer less that way)
As long as you stick to the left side of the map going up and the right side of the rock formation coming down, you should be able to avoid most aggro. If you do get aggro just use dark escape and they shouldn't follow you very long. The exception are the mandragors. There are two groups located at point B on the map. If you aggro these guys, 9 times out of 10 they will follow you into the vaettir territory and then sit in the middle of the northern group making it near to impossible to kill them. If this happens just kill the southern group and map to Bjora Marshes and then back again.
The Vaettirs
Group 1:
Basically run around the northern half until you aggro everything in the area. You can use Dark Escape if you want just make sure you don't lose aggro by running too fast. Get them all balled up and then pull to the fence by the entryway. Run towards the fence angling yourself a bit to the right and stop just before the end. Tap Q only once and very lightly to separate yourself from the fence and pin the vaettirs down. If you tap for too long you'll make a gap they can get through and they will scatter.
Once you have them pinned go ahead and cast 5, 6, and 7. I usually wait on cry of pain until the timer for ether nightmare is 1/3 recharged (in the bottom right corner). This makes the degen pretty much continuous. At sunspear rank 7 and kurzick rank 1 it takes me 3 cycles of SF to kill each group. (I'm sure it would be faster with higher ranks, but I'm lazy :P) Always make sure you prioritize SF above doing damage. It takes way less time to go through an extra cycle than to die and have to re-aggro everything. Once you're done with the northern group, rinse and repeat on the southern group.
Group 2:
This time pull everything towards the middle (near the charred smoking circle) and then run to the wall with the tree. Pull them south along the wall and stop once you hit the tree. Tap Q again and kill them like you killed the northern group. I am sure there's other pull spots or maybe even a way to kill both groups at once, but this is what works for me every single time without fail.
Congratulations! You've killed all the Vaettir! Pick up your loot, map to Bjora Marshes and then back to do it all over again. Runs take me about 6 minutes and I usually net 50-60 grogs before my inventory fills up and I have to map to Sifhalla. Most of the golds that drop are highQ merch fodder, but you'll occasionally get a Q9 or a good mod or two that you can sell for a few K. If you have merch summoning stones you can just summon one and sell right on the map without having to go back. I generally salvage everything except golds and purples. You UWSC-ers out there will be happy to know that almost everything salvages into dust and iron.
Hope you enjoyed the guide and happy hunting!

Good guide, definitely would try sometime.

Faster and easier from longeye, and then you can kick the running skill for some AoE, Radiation Field etc...

Nice guide, i tried this yesterday with the same build, just couldn't stop scatter.
Any chance of a video showing exactly how to pin em down?

Johny bravo
To help stop them from scattering you have to pin them up against something. The 2 places he has pictures of are perfect as they can't run backwards, there is an obstructoin, and they can't run through you so they are basically stuck until you kill them.

By the way, there really is no need to do the 1 step left ('tap q very lightly') thing. From countless hours of experience doing UW Chambers and perma Vaettir, once you pull them along the wall they are stuck. Going left actually leaves the possibility, as you say, of accidentally making a gap large enough for them to get through. Personally, I would also add in radiation field for a little faster killing instead of Viper's Defense.

Used this since they nerfed kegging, not hard to work out the only new thing is scatter which I manage slightly differently.

def gonna try this out^^
- next time there's items tho..

I spent the weekend doing this every now and then for a stack of grogs - I felt it superior to the raptors. I wish I'd thought of viper's defense, as the only thing that would occasionally go wrong would be a minor bit of lag that would wind up with me bodyblocked with no way to lead them to a wall. I'll definitely sub that in next time, thanks.
Oh, and the run from Longeyes is easy.
