Ok, so i have been playing GW for a little while, but I'm still a little confused on how the whole trading/seeking party thing works. When i find someone i want to talk/trade with and and click join party, all of a sudden im getting random people asking me what kind of party I'm searching for. So i guess doing that makes me search for a party, and the other person never accepts.
As far as i know, joining a party is the easiest way to find someone in a crowded city, so how exactly do i send an invite saying i want to join their party, find them, and trade with them.
Kind of the same as above, but how do i invite people into my party if i am selling and someone wants to buy, is there a way to invite/request invite from the.
Ive also seen runners say "self invite", what exactly does that mean?
I guess long story short, what is the standard procedure for initiating a trade and finding the person, I was hoping it would be easier than holding down the alt key, what a pain in a large city.
Thanks for all the information
trading, is it easier than this?

Self invite is easier for players to enter the runners name in party box than the other way round eg The runner has to type 7 players name to max a group of 8 when its easier for the 7 players to type that runners name.
When trading its easier to tell the other player which district you are in and its easier to trade at the storage area since most players get their cash or items from storage.
When players to try to invite the trade partner, main reason is to find the other person easier since when you highlight the other persons name in group the trade option appears and for locating

Random Monk
Self invite: Type the person's name in your party list window, by default on the right, and click the + button. Especially for getting a run, make sure you do not have any heroes or henchmen with you when you click the +.
The same method is used to invite people when in any town, as long as they are in the same district.
The kinds of parties are usually things like for the mission, or a specific quest, or farming.
Once you have a trade set up with someone, just either go near them and click the trade button, or if they are far away put their name in the party window, click the + and click the gray box that contains their name. Their location should then be shown on the radar.
If you say LFG, GLF, WTB or WTS, a message is automatically put into the party search screen, which can be pulled up by pressing P in any town, city, or outpost. This contains a short message, so be clear in the message on what you are forming a group for, example: "WTB IDS".

I don't trade alot, but when I do WTB (want to buy) or WTS (want to sell) I prefer to use the Party Screen [P]. That way you can get the word out across all the distrcits of the town you are in. This is very helpful in Kamaden, which has a lot of active districts. Just hit "P", select the Party Tab, pick Trade from the Pull down, and type in a SHORT description. Longer messages may be truncated. Your "Ad' will show up at the bottom of the list (newest ones are at the bottom). You can also use the "whisper" and "join" buttons from this screen. If you jump districts or zone this goes away.

Yes the party search gets activated if you use certain phrases such as WTB, WTS, LFG, etc.
