Widespread D/Cs

Yeah, so pretty much everyone in my guild disconnected a few minutes ago. The pirate event info is gone from the login screen, but wasn't it supposed to run until tomorrow? And apparently grog isn't dropping now either.
Anyone have any idea what's going on?

Anet is F'ing up!
New Buddha
Think Anet's got everything running on auto-pilot now, events starts on Friday noon pst - ends Sunday 11:59pm.
and yes they F'd up!

I've had way more than normal d/c and HUGE lag spikes (20-98k ms at times) the past couple of days.
Karate Jesus
Yea, everyone is saying that the event ended early. I haven't been having big lag spikes; however, they are much more common lately than they used to be. All my euro friends have a hard time playing at all.
Benderama
i havn't had many problems seems like the lags getting better than it was in easter the majority of my big guild would DC every now and then and it would stay like that for a few minutes without anyone being able to stay on for more than a few minutes.
AmbientMelody
Don't worry ... Anet is just experimenting with current GW servers to find optimum settings for GW2 ones
The Drunkard
007'ed twice today, it's kinda to be expected with the nicholas update.
I've been getting constant problems when I play later at night, though the connection on my end seems ok.

Hey, wait.....I just remembered something.
Does anyone remember when NCSoft (or Anet) laid off all those guys in Austin? Isn't Austin where they house the game servers...or at least some of them?
Maybe those guys getting laid off has something to do with all the server problems lately. Oh, and for the love of sweet zombie Jesus, no one come here and blame our computers. I use PingPlotter regularly, and it's only been my ISP's fault 1 time....out of like 90.

Ownage Ritual Lord
Yep just dc/ed during RA and got dishonor. Screw YOU ANET
Conjur me
I live like 10 minutes from Austin. We had a few blackouts yesterday, so if anet keeps hosts here, that could be a reason for some problems... Besides that idk why there was a lagg spike.
Darth The Xx
I was having some serious problems in HB and TA last night, DCs during the games, inbetween zones, was crazy.
Kityn
Other than a handful of lag spikes during the weekend, my connection has been working just fine.
QueenofDeath
Same here wonderful connection all weekend and I leave my game on all the time. I got over 250 grogs too. Must be you guys crappy ISP's or computers. You should get a driver detector and see how many of your pieces of hardware are out of date. I used to think just because I downloaded video and sound drivers I was uptodate. Wow I never saw so many drivers before in my life when I used the Driver Detective called "Driver Robot" and after updating all of them I haven't had any issues since.
Accursed
Literally everyone in my alliance got a huge lag spike as well, even a few disconnected.
This is the first time I've been affected by this lag, so I don't know.

Why not? You automatically assume it's anything but you or your system?

Having said that, its not necessarily Anet's fault either, it could be a malfunctioning router somewhere in between, a bad routing table, a flapping router port (yes, that is a technical term) and a few other things.
I've not had much of a problem myself but there are occasions when there are lag spikes and I'm quite sure the problem is not on my end.

i dont always assume its my computer. i can admit it is sometimes my fault. i can be a grown up and admit it. but it's not always my fault too! it can also be anet's fault too! I can admit it can be my fault some times too so why cant you admit it can be on anet's end too?
Tamuril elansar
how come that after 4 years, people still ask the same damn question every time something like this happens?
in these 4 years, about a hundred of these threads were made. Is it still a suprise that Anet's servers are crap?

Billiard
I've not had any problems with lag or disconnects, nor does it appear that anyone in my alliance has had issues.
I think the sample size is way to small to make any inferences at this point.

The issue most likely occurs in transit between your computer and Anets server, where exactly I cannot tell you but it is something Anet can request their upstream provider to look into.
