If you want a support character, and not a damage dealing beast, but can't seem to keep you AND your teammates alive at the same time? I think I have the answer.

This is an example build (level 8, at time of post) of a tanking N/Mo, which focuses on blood magic and healing/smiting prayers:

1.Vampiric Gaze (For quick hp regen. while attacking)

2.Deathly Plague (For mobs)

3.Bane Signet (When low on energy, deals good damage!)

4.Orrison of Healing (My most used spell, just hang back and help out your friends)

5.Life Siphon (Very good blood spell that slowly drains hp)

6.Symbol of Wrath (When you get ganged melee range, this WILL save your ass)

7.Vampiric Touch (Very good way to regain hp and attack at same time...very high dmg)

8.Resurrection Signet (You never know when you may need one...)

I switch out 8 sometimes with Retribution...which is cast on yourself and your party and takes some melee damage inflicted on you, and shoots it back at the enemy. Sometimes switch out Animate Bone Horro with Vampiric Touch, because you have to be melee range to use V.T.

Hope this helps some support character woes you all may have. Also, people say that Necromancers are useless (or simply disadvantaged) in PvP. This combo has been proven effective as a PvP support character by a higher-level friend who tried it.

An interesting build. I've been wanting to pick Monk back up again but just didn't see a way to be an adequate healer and not get bored to tears staring at the group's bars. N/Mo sounds interesting, but I'd be willing to bet more challenging to find a PUG with necro as primary. You never really know one's motives who happens to have Monk as their seconary profession, and I tend to be dubious about inviting them with the expectation of them healing. This has lead to some squabbles within a group as well, requesting monk secondary players to heal for the group, then them doing anything but.

I suppose I'm just digressing here....just wanted to mention that this build is probably better suited within a familiar guild/group of friends, than thrown to the wolves of PUG's.

P.S. By the way, what made you pick necro for primary over monk?

Why use the Res Signet when you can have a full-time rez spell with your Monk skills?

Where's Healing Breeze? Add that to life steal and you'd be able to take an awful lot of hits...

LvL 7 N/M here.

I would swap out ~7.Vampiric Touch~ with something else, If you are not gonna melee, you can't do anything with that.

I picked necro over monk because necro secondaries don't get as many blood magic spells. Love the blood magic spells.

I haven't had anything to swap out with Vampiric Touch yet...just logged out next quest I do will be to gain more blood magic skills, so I'll wait until I see what's there.

One reason he might not have included it is he is lvl 8 and may not have the rez spell yet. I am using almost the same exact build and im lvl 6 and havent found a real rez other then the signet yet.

OP. How did you list your attributes? ATM i am putting everything into Blood and left over evenly as possible into healing and smiting. Also i have been soloing only up to now (no mercs either yet) and have had little problems with this build.

If anyone higher the our lvl 6 or 8 has any helpfull suggestions i would appreciate it.

I've put most of my attributes into blood magic and smiting/healing as well, and putting the meager rest into death magic for deathly swarm (really a useful spell, not much dmg but is like a shotgun and affects a couple enemies at once)

So as a Mo/N you can have the exact same skill bar as you've got now. The change would be having Divine Healing instead of Soul Reaping, but that's about all.

And you can get a rez spell from Protector Grazden, immediately north of Sardelac Sanitarium. Very easy quest.

Later on you can add balthazar's aura as well, if your intention is to go down the smiting path. With 7 in smiting prayers, it does 17 damage per second for 10 seconds to all mobs surrounding the target ally you cast it on, but it's expensive at 25 energy. With my ranger I use it and then follow it up with a quick symbol of wrath and I do 225 damage to all foes surrounding me. If those foes happen to be undead, they typically all drop dead, since both combos do double damage to undead, which is 450 damage. Group members usually just laugh when we hit skeleton rangers and they all keel over dead.

You can get to Sardelac Sanitarium before you get to Yak's Bend; it's where Ashford Abbey was in pre-searing.
