I had no idea what an 'Ancestral Evil' is, so I thought of some kind of grim reaper kind of deal, but it ended up looking like Abaddon -.- Screw the fact I just finished Nightfall. And yes, your painting tutorial helped xD

- Caesar: "No, Cleopatra. No man goes to battle to be killed." / Cleopatra: "But they do get killed". — Shaw, Caesar and Cleopatra (1901)
Of the example from Shaw, the Merriam-Webster Dictionary of English Usage (1989) states: "It would be a violation of English idiom to use a singular pronoun in [that] sentence (But he does get killed) on the assumption that because no man is singular in form and governs a singular verb, it must take a singular pronoun in reference. Notional agreement is in control, and its dictates must be followed." In other words, no man is syntactically singular, demonstrated by taking the singular form goes; however, it is semantically plural (all go [to kill] not to be killed), hence idiomatically requiring generic or plural (not singular) they.
A majority of The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language usage panel "of some 200 distinguished educators, writers, and public speakers" "reject the use of they with singular antecedents" inasmuch as 82% of the panelists found the sentence "The typical student in the program takes about six years to complete their course work" to be unacceptable.
Study has also shown that reading time of they increases significantly when used with a gender-determinate antecedent, suggesting that such use can confuse.
Both generic he and generic they have long histories of use, and both are still used. However, both are also systematically avoided by particular groups. Style guides that avoid expressing a preference for either approach recommend recasting generic expressions as plurals to avoid the criticisms of either party.
Irrespective of the debate, when used, generic they can be seen to have an implication of indefinite reference (indefinite number or indefinite gender). It is most commonly used with indefinite referents of a distributive nature such as someone, anyone, everyone, and no one. Such references are not to one particular person but to a large group taken one at a time, causing influence from the implied plural. http://books.google.com/books?id=2yJ...ebster&f=false

"One" can apply to anyone, and is not directed at a specific person.
e.g.
"He can drive a car" applies to the person that "He" is directed at.
"One can drive a car" applies to anyone.
"He or she" doesn't sound quite right when placed in some sentances.
"He or she went into the house" - see what I mean?
Words usage also varies throughout contries, e.g. in Australia a "Thong" is a style of sandal, whereas in New Zealand a "Thong" is an item of female underwear.
While a usage of a word may be perfectly acceptable in New Zealand/UK/US, it might be seen as incorrect in Scotland/Australia/Wales.

It's basically getting away from the male superiority into the politically correct world we live in. In fact it has been in use for a long period of time, the PC thing has just made it far more popular. Singular "They" has appeared in many texts by authors such as C.S. Lewis,
Thackeray and Jane Austin.
@Eragon - Whats your point? - I see nothing wrong with what I have posted, perhaps you could enlighten me to my shamefully obvious mistake that has been hinted at by your useless +1 post.
@Arcole - The vast majority of the AHD panel (Above that 82% mark as far as I know) were born before 1950. Before all this gender sensetive crap came in. Perhaps that says something about their opinions, I would consider that biased, just as I would if it was made up of txt mad teenagers.
I would like to support whoever suggested we get back to art. I'd like to see some nice pictures

I was not trying to "correct" your english, I was just stating amazement at becoming plural, it's not always a bad thing.

If you think I was using singular "they" as a plural then I would consider you to be correcting my English. From the context it should be assumed that I was using singular "They". If I was using plural they I would have been talking about multiple people. You were the one who apparently did not request a piece to draw, hence it is common sense to assume that my usage of "They" was singular. That usage of "They" can be debated, but hopefully somewhere else from now on.
More pictures please
I might actually do something of my own - someone post a request.

Invertation
Very well then. A small waterfall in a dense forest, light trickling down through the leaves, sparkling off the flow of the stream. Rounded rocks protrude at random in the water, covered in a light moss film. Ferns line the edge of the water, with a tree every so often, leaves far enough down to touch the water.
Good luck.
