I've noticed that sometimes the weapon's or item's stats are in gold text vs. white. For example the scythe's damage 9-41 was in gold letters.
Is that significant to the value of the item or just variances in the game's way of displaying information?

The damage is displayed in gold when there is an elemental hilt attached.
Items show inherent (unchangeable) values in white.

The color of a weapon, armor, minipet or other item shows the rarity of that item (when it comes to weapons, it's about the weapons upgrades and how many upgrade slots it has).
