No they're not. Gold versions are rarer, and therefore more collectable and worth more on the market.
Have a browse through the sell and PC forums to see for yourself.

Price isn't determined (much) by how useful an item is. Price is determined by its rarity.
Thor Tyr
depends on the skin unless you get a max req 7
Marty Silverblade
Purple items are pretty much worthless unless it's an incredibly rare skin or has an incredibly low req. If it's req 9 or above and not an uber-rare skin, it's most likely merch-food.

People are just silly. They're still exercising prejudice from back in the pre-inscription days when purple inherents were hardly ever (or maybe never) max. Kinda like how the rural South still can't forget about the Civil War, lol. Plus golds are status symbols just because overall they're the most rare kind of drop, except for greens, but greens aren't popular because most have awful mods and they can't be dyed.

Not always. I've gotten 22 gold req9 spear drops and only 4 purple req9 spear drops. 12 gold req9 blazing wing wands and zero purple ones.

Amount of gold Vs purple also depends which mode you play in more often normal or hard.
Almost every single highly desired weapon in the game only comes in a gold version anyway.

Look on the wiki, check on rarity of skins, that should help to figure out what is/isnt rare.

Depends upon your definition of "worth" in a way. A purple max inscribable item is worth the same as it's gold counterpart as far as functionality is concerned. When it comes to buy/sell price though, the gold version will buy/sell for much more - whether or not that makes sense to any particular player, doesn't really matter. It doesn't make sense to pay more for a 'natural' diamond than for an 'artificial' one, but people still do.
