I get this too. I find minimising fixes it; restarting GW is unnecessary.

Fairly often though, Im having to restart my system, because my the entire system locks up, with the screen blank, or scrambled badly. Its not heat though(Im pretty sure), because the video card manufacturer's monitor shows only about 50-60C as the temperature. Im thinking its likely the monitor(very old), but will need to buy a new one to know for sure.

Do a search for "white blocks", youll find its an old problem. I dont remember how it was fixed for those that had it, but I THINK it was a driver update.

I've had many experiences similar to the poster above. Usually happens when my Anti Virus updates or my gpu overheats, I would think.
