How often do low level pets gets targeted in HM?

I want to do some VQing with my Ranger, but I also want to train my pet at the same time, which is only level 10. Does that make foes in HM target my pet sooner? Would leveling my pet while VQing be a bad idea?

Yes they will target pet sooner because at level 10 I believe they only have 40 armor...?

But it's fine if you take it vanquishing, they level out of range afaik.

playing with pet to get it leveled while vq'ing is not a bad idea : you aren't gonna loose it or anything else anyway.

You pet is going to die a lot, but he will hold agro for a little while. It is a great way to level up your pet, just keep him handy and alive. Do not set it to avoid, from experence, pets level faster if they actually fight.

Take it to the wurms in nightfall, level it up in HM, then go vanq.

Easier to get it to level 12, then submit it to the Zaishen Menagerie. Then ask Wynn in the Menagerie for a level 12 pet to charm. Take a Me/Mo hero with Mending and Resurrect. Have it maintain Mending on itself then set it to Avoid Combat. Charm the pet, but cancel it after the pet goes aggressive. Take off all your armor except health lowering pieces with Major/Superior Runes and equip a vampiric weapon. Let the pet kill you, and the hero will rez you. Go afk, come back an hour later and check on the pet's level.

Menagerie really is the best way to level pets if you ask me. Taking a pet to vanquish, but not having a build making use of the pet will slow you down. And if you take hero/hench along, they will be healing the pet.

Its better to take 2 Me/Mo heroes with Ressurect and another hard res. Taking a Well Of Power necro speeds this up further. You also need Resurrection Chant so you can be brough back to life.

You can do it on a PvP character and take to the animal person and grab it again on your PvE character.
