Agony - A word to all spirit spammers out there
Mikkelet
I'm begging you, please don't run Agony in your bar while a spirit spammer unless specifically told to. It suck. It kills itself, doing minimal damage to all enemies.
I tested it. On the Isles of the Nameless I went out with 14 channeling and 15SP and spawned agony in the first training circle. I was able to do 60 damage to about 5 or 6 enemies - every 30 secs <-- That's not good at all!
I don't know if you care, but if I see Agony builds and they refuse to change them I kick (or request to kick) them. Go PI or Necrosis or something instead.

Really, get over it. Your life doesn't depend on someone running Agony in their SS build. Loads of things "suck" in GW. Moar kew kew plz.
majikmajikmajik
please close this, let people roll whatever they want and as you said, kick them if you dont like it. no need to come over here complaining over a mildly used skill.

I find agony usefull in FoWsc. Good damage for the spikes, and to take out remaining foes (if team fails to do this).
If used correctly with Summon Spirits it can be kept alive for a long time.
Q_Q?

I would no sooner accept someone using Agony than I would accept an ursan war, someone using power shot, healing breeze, shadow form, flare, orison of healing, vengeance, or other shitty skills.

What I don't get is this, the skills effects all foes within earshot and at 14 channeling it should be doing 10 damage per second to each foe. So unless your math is horribly wrong it should have been doing 300 damage over the corse of 30 seconds.

If you think it sucks, dont use it.
If there is someone in your party who uses it, kick him.
If not youre the party leader, stfu.

Except the spirit kills itself

you can often prolong their life with summon spirits too (if you bring it, which ideally you probably should be doing)

I don't understand the point of your complaint. Agony is a spirit that converts its life into damage. If its life is used up, it dies. With 15 channeling magic and 11 spawning power, you are able to convert 432 life into 432 armor-ignoring damage by using 10 energy. Unprotectable 432 damage for 10 energy is a pretty good deal, in my opinion. There are Blood magic skills that deal 60 damage for 10 energy.
10 life per second is the equivalent of an unremovable AoE life degeneration of 5 pips. Not removable like hexes or conditions. AoE range is earshot (not near and not area: earshot, the whole aggro bubble!).
If you have 4 enemies within the range of the spirit, they get 40 damage each second, that means the spirit dies after 10 seconds. To extend its life, you can use summon spirits every 5 seconds, so you heal it every 5 seconds by up to 100 health.
Code:

Code:

Attacking spirits attack every 2s. In 20 seconds the 3 spirits of Signet of Spirits deal 20/2*3*32=960 points of damage. Bloodsong steals 20/2*25=250 life. Vampirism steals 20/2*20=200.
So Agony seems pretty good for me. It deals as much damage as Vampirism over time, just to every enemy in earshot instead of only one. And it does not overdamage.

I use it in my AP build.
It's a nice addition.

I don't know if you care, but if I see Agony builds and they refuse to change them I kick (or request to kick) them. Go PI or Necrosis or something instead. You can pre-cast and use summon spirits. When the first Agony dies you raise another one. Should be quite obvious. 300 armor ignoring damage isn't that bad now is it?
majikmajikmajik
i see it as extra degen on top of burning/poison.

I think Silmar broke it down with some irrefutable numbers and analysis...sold me anyway! But, then again I loaded spun ducky's og r/rt spirit spammer which includes agony and never changed a thing, works just fine to me.

Yeah, it's great with EoE, since it requires foes are under 90% health. Of course, in FoW it's not mandatory since Spliter does the job as well, nevertheless it has a good synergy with this skill.
snaek
it does more dmg than any other non-elite spirit, granted you know how to pre-cast the spirit and use summon spirits properly. in other words the problem isn't the spirit, its you.
